I think I'm in that part of being sick where it's not horrible, but it's persistent. Like one minute I feel all crappy, then I feel great the next.

After spending most of Sunday just hanging out at home trying to relax, I went downtown to hang out with some people for dinner; Jason's cousin Donna was in town so we had dinner at Jason's place, those two, Drew, and me. Drew gave me back my Flogging Molly CD that I lent him "for a night, right?" a month ago. (The upshot is that lending it to him got it out of constant repeat in my car, and instead, I've had Belle and Sebastian's album "Dear Catastrophe Waitress" on constant repeat for the past month instead!) I was really very out of it and doped up on cough syrup, but we managed to play a game of Alhambra anyway, which I somehow won. We also solved this 5x5 soma cube puzzle thingy that Drew had custom-made. It had letters on the sides when you solved it properly, and spelled something, but I shouldn't give it away in case he makes anyone else I know try to solve it.

Today, I went to work, and now Jack is sick, but he says that he probly caught the cold from someone else, so I shouldn't feel bad. I was still kind of brain-fuzzy but I did get a few things done.

After work, I decided I might as well go to choir because even if I couldn't really sing, I still needed to find out what changes he was making to the music. I sang at half-strength for most of the rehearsal, except when they did "Their Sound Has Gone Out", where I couldn't help but belt a lot of the tenor solo lines. It just feels so *good*, if you know what I mean.

And after choir, I went weight-lifting anyway, but I also took it easy there -- didn't do any cardio, and skipped one or two things, and didn't up the weights on the cable row and press like I'd meant to this week. I ran into Eddie from the weekly volleyball games, as he was also lifting. He commended me on my fashion sense.

And now my throat feels a little sore. I think I'll take it easy tomorrow.

Yesterday, I went to lunch with [profile] meerkat299 and [profile] georgejas, the latter of whom is in town this weekend but was going off for most of the real weekend to be camping with Megan and whoever. We went to Soup Daddy. They didn't have any of the soups I like. They say I should call and find out when they have the ones I like; I think it'd be more useful if they had like, a soup warning service you could sign up for, like they'd email you in the morning if they had the specific soups you were watching for.

After work, Oren picked me up, and we went to Taste of India for dinner with Nick. We drank a LOT of chai. It ruled.

Watched "Major League" after that - god I love that movie, but I wish it didn't remind me of the Philadelphia Phillies this year. Ryan Howard is Cerrano, David Bell is Rodger Dorn, Mike Lieberthal is Jake Taylor, etc.

Drew and Jason came by as we were finishing the movie, and they played Tichu with me and Nick, since Oren decided to go home. Yay for Tichu!

Today, we went to the east side, and got lunch at Thai Chef with Drew and Jason after an adventure involving Drew getting a flat tire on 520 and stuff. Oops. Played Ticket to Ride over at Drew's place, along with a friend of Nick's (Shaheen? I forget his name). Drew won the game but I completed a metric assload of tickets for 68 points plus my 46 points in tracks. Not too shabby.

I have an Orbital CD to give to Eli, returned from Drew.

Nick and I went to the Mariners game. It sucked. Game review's in the normal place. Tomorrow is Felix. We will be there. Oh yes, we will be there.

Last night I got home around 9, and I crashed around 9:45, which is why it's 7:30am and I've been awake for an hour already.

Not much to say, though. Yesterday morning's chai came from Joelle's Cafe, across the street from IDX. This was the first place they actually asked if I wanted nonfat milk or soy milk or whatnot, so I got nonfat -- the result is pretty much the same generic chai every other coffeehouse has. Dammit, I want Taste of India to open a chai stand downtown.

(Yes, I really do pass by at least ten different coffeehouses in a 5-block walk from the bus to work. Why do you ask?)

I had a program I was working on at work. Jack asked me how long it'd take. At the time he asked, I was still getting my head around it, so I said "I'll be done end of tomorrow?" Then I actually started writing the script, and I was done by the end of the day. That's a good feeling. It's frustrating to be in a stage where I know I don't know enough to really be effective, but it's kinda cool to still be doing okay despite that.

Also, there was cake.

After work I went to Fuji Sushi with Drew and Jason, since I hadn't been there in forever and I had this sadistic desire to make Jason walk uphill from Pioneer Square to there. No, just kidding. It was fun, and Drew and I had some stuff to catch up on anyway.

Then I walked across town to catch my bus home, and I voraciously devoured another 50 pages of "The Ball" on the ride home... and then I crashed. Boom.

Has anyone else read anything by Daniel Paisner? This book is amazing -- not just from a baseball perspective, since it isn't really about baseball, but it's more about American culture and the psychology of wanting to "own part of the action", and the controversy that stemmed over the people who caught and kept home run balls from the 1998 season. I'm really wondering if this guy is always this good -- just like when I read Moneyball, I wondered about Michael Lewis, since that was such an amazing book as well.
Today there was clothes shopping. I found a skirt I really wanted at JC Penney's at Northgate, but they only had it in size 4. It wasn't in the catalog, but they said I could try the Alderwood Mall branch... which is like 11 miles away. So I went there. The Penney's in Alderwood kicked butt, and not only did I find the skirt in my size, but I found like four tops I wanted. Dude, clothes shopping still sucks, but I guess I'm getting better at it. The only thing that really hurts me is that I only wear cool and dark colours for the most part and refuse to wear anything pink, orange, yellow, lime, violet, etc... and this time of year, those are the big colours out on all the clothing racks. So I'll find a style of shirt I like and the only acceptable colour it'll come in is green or blue or dark brown or something.

I would have done more looking around the mall, except Drew called me at 3:15ish like "Hey, I'm at the CMU alumni picnic thingy and a whole bunch of people wondered why you're not here..." and I thought, oh damn, maybe I should go to that thing after all. So I went down to Gasworks for the picnic. It was like 4 when I got there and I think it started at 2, but it worked out okay. I talked to a whole bunch of people I knew, and then some people decided to play CS Volleyball for a while. I still have all my volleyball reflexes, which rules. I was actually kind of surprised. What I don't have anymore is setting hands, so it was all bumping, but still, it was good, I could even spike. I really should try playing volleyball again. The gym has pick-up volleyball some evenings, I should just go and see how it is... nothing to lose, really, right?

Oh, so anyway, after volleyballing for an hour or two, it started getting rainy-ish. I had made vague plans with Brian M for the evening since I hadn't seen him in a bazillion years, but Drew and Jason wanted to hang out too, so I said we could all hang out! So Brian came over and we met up with Drew, Jason, and some other guy whose name I never quite caught who was a CMU undergrad and will be a UW grad student. We went to Taste of India for dinner. It was CRAZY crowded and service was lousy, but food was tasty, chai was plentiful, and conversation was good. After dinner we came back here, and played a couple games of Ricochet Robot, which I've been itching to play lately. Brian and Drew totally killed me the first game, but I came back with a vengeance and won 10 out of 17 goals in the second game. It was pretty funny.

I guess I filled all my weekend goals except for seeing Bewitched. Well, I didn't walk around Greenlake, either, but I did play volleyball outdoors for at least an hour, so I think that qualifies in the same place, namely "get exercise outdoors".
Today I went to help Megan and Josh build their fence, except that there were a ton of people and not enough of a bottleneck. I did some weeding, and then I sat around playing piano for a while, and then I just gave up and left. I know, I suck. I did get to see Ficus's new puppy Oliver, who is the cutest puppydog I have ever seen in my entire lifetime. Infact, I think it's a crime for a puppy to be that damn cute.

Anyway, Drew and Oren had both called me while I was sitting around at M&J's house, so I ended up picking up Oren and going to Taste of India for dinner... I figured that was a Seattle restaurant he should see. Food was good and the chai was great because it was so chilly out today. After that we came back to my apartment and played Karaoke Revolution for a while, which was really funny and Oren made fun of my deteriorating kanji skills. Drew and Jason came over after that and hung out for a while, and we played Ticket to Ride. That was pretty fun, except the very last turn where Oren ended the game one turn too soon for me (it took me 5 turns to gather 4 wilds and a blue)... I woulda tied him for the win with 116 if he'd ended it one turn later, but instead I placed dead last. Arr.

Whee, been listening to the Final Fantasy 4 music all day. I figured out how to play Rydia's theme and some others on the piano today at M&J's house, at least.

I had an interview today. I think it went well? I guess I'll find out later.

It ended a little before 4pm, so I went to the library after it, and sat there reading about Roger Maris for a while. I had wanted to read the Sadaharu Oh biography I saw there last time I was there, but it wasn't there this time. They did have Warren Cromartie's biography, but I didn't notice it until I was putting back the Maris one... I guess I'll read that next time.

Walked down to the Mariners - Blue Jays game. Drew was running late so I just left him a ticket in Will Call and went in. Got my Ivar's and got up to my seat in time for lineups and everything. The guys who have the seats next to me were actually both there today, so I talked to them for a while, though I still think they think I'm some sort of freaky obnoxious girl. Drew showed up about ten minutes after the game started.

It was a great game! I ♥ PAT BORDERS! If I were Batgirl, Pat Borders would be my Boyfriend Of The Day every day, except for when... wait, I just realized, nobody else on the Mariners is really worth being Boyfriend of the Day. Yeesh. No wonder I've taken to rooting for other teams. Give me a John Olerud, a Joe Mauer, a Mark Teixeira, a Hank Blalock, a Jarrod Washburn, a Brendan Donnelly, a Jason Kendall, a Jason Varitek, a Mike Myers, hell, a Jason Bay or a Pat Burrell or a Jim Edmonds or David Eckstein... just... players I can actually care about and want to succeed! I guess I am kinda pulling for Randy Winn and Raul Ibanez this year -- they do consistently well but never really get the press for it. And I'm hoping Aaron Sele and Gil Meche can keep up their last few starts. Actually, come to think of it, Jeremy Reed is probably the best candidate for Backup Boyfriend of the Day at this point. If he continues to play like this he could very well end up AL Rookie of the Year.

Oh, so anyway, the Mariners won tonight, 3-0. Pat Borders was 2-2 and scored a run. Boone looked like a total slowpoke on the basepaths, getting caught running twice, though he did have a nice triple. Ichiro made some excellent plays, but sadly I think we're too used to those by now. However, we're not used to the Mariners winning by now, so that was nice. I need to go to another Tacoma game sometime (prolly when Oren is up here next weekend).

After the game Drew and I went to hang out with one of his friends; we sat around and ate some food and talked about 80's music and stuff. Was fun. Then Drew gave me a ride home, and I've been catching up on all the online things I ignored all day.
