I moved to Japan in 2007, moved back to the US in 2011, started working at Google in 2013, got married in 2016, was laid off from Google in January 2023 and got divorced in December 2023, and moved back to Japan in 2024 and now I work at a robotics company in Tokyo. It's pretty much full circle.
I used to have really crazy daily journalling habits, but Facebook and Twitter ruined me for that. However, with the rest of the internet going to shit, I'm thinking I might have to give the whole journal thing a try again.
In my spare time, I pretend to be a baseball writer/photographer/historian. I used to write about baseball on a separate blog called Marinerds, but now just use it to translate the draft every year. I'm a huge Nippon Ham Fighters fan, and I like some other teams too, and I also follow Japanese college baseball a little too much for my own good. Someday I should write a book about it.
For 12 years this said "I managed to visit 46 out of 47 prefectures in Japan. Everything except Okinawa. I claim it doesn't count because you can't take a train there." But then I went to Okinawa in 2023, so that's no longer true. Though I still haven't ridden public transit there, so maybe it does?
