I'm losing track of time
Feb. 12th, 2002 01:02 pmI woke up kinda late (figures since I was up until 6am last night and all). Managed to convince the building people to give me my package. They've changed the rules about receiving packages here now, so rather than bringing them to your apartment, you have to pick them up, at some very specific times of the day. Grr. Well, it wasn't too bad. The package in question was a Hysteric Blue t-shirt (which is incidentally red). Hysteric Blue is one of my favorite Japanese Pop/Rock bands. I've realized that very few Japanese bands actually really make t-shirts, as far as I can tell. I mean, even when I was in Japan they were a pain in the ass to find.
Anyway, t-shirts aside, it's great because I still have my braids, so I thought it'd be way cool to wear my new red t-shirt with my red bandanna over my braids and red Converse shoes. So I did. It looked cool.
I went to campus around 4, so I'd be on time for KGB. I sat in the back of the room again, in front of Bayani and in back of Shawn. I went around the room being all zombie-like yelling "BRAAAAAAAIIIIIIDDDDDDSSSSSSSS...." except that only Laura and Alisa actually had braids, so I guess I chose a poor hunting ground. I may have repeated the joke a few too many times for my own good during the day. Oh well.
Kiltie was ok. We're working on both the Emperata Overture and Amparita Roca, and with my accent, the words "Emperata" and "Amparita" sound almost the same if I say them quickly, and I was discussing them with Carl after rehearsal, and it turned out we were talking at right angles about the pieces. Emperata sounds pretty cool and I can actually play the majority of it, so I like it. Amparita is just freakin' impossible. The baritone part (and apparently the bass clarinet as well) is entirely eighth notes through 90% of it, and while that's easy on a clarinet, it's really a pain in the neck on a baritone. Although I have a feeling once I study the music and get the pattern it won't be as bad.
After Kiltie, Carl and I got indian food and hung out in the cs lounge for most of the evening. I played ton of Lost Cities. That's about the whole of it. Finally saw Roman and paid him back for that NYC trip in December and all.
I tried on my dress from last year's Valentine's day (this one, honk if you like cleavage) because I wondered if I could wear it this year for our Valentine's day dinner. It fits, kinda, but I should not eat at all this week. I should start playing 3 hours a day of DDR or something while I'm unemployed, I think.
Then I went to sleep in the middle of writing this entry. Now it is "morning", or 1pm, as the case may be. I need to call my dad - I think I'm going to make plans to go to Philly next week. If some of you want me to come visit Seattle, you need to tell me when is good so I can order tickets for that as well...
Taking out braids is a royal pain in the butt. Whee.
