I got to go shopping today for a bit in the afternoon. We went to Tokyo Food Store, which is always fun. Eli wanted to get stuff to make miso soup, and I wanted to get stuff to make random soba dishes. I made the mistake of asking the store guy in Japanese which sauces I actually wanted, and he went into a long explanation in Japanese about "...this one you put water in, but this one you do not put water in" and such. After he went away I realized he meant that certain ones can be diluted to become different sauces, but others can't. So I got the dilutable one incase I ever make soup, or tempura, or something. I also bought more soba, and more curry sauce. Some evening soon we'll do a Japanese cooking trial dinner and then you'll all be sorry have to come over and try it out. I'd probly make yakisoba, zarusoba, katsu curry, and Eli would do miso soup...

I also got to go to Target and acquire more self-contained battery-operated christmas lights for tomorrow's Kiltie Concert, so you should all come (plug plug plug 6pm Kirr Commons free free free and cookies!) and see the baritone section light up up in lights.

After that I got to play Illuminati. At first it looked like it'd just be [personal profile] damion, [profile] dvarin and I, but then Mark Tomczak showed up and a little bit later jcreed showed up. Yay! It was fun to play again since I hadn't in so long. I even won, although it was mostly because Jason decided not to attack me and knock out a big chunk of my power structure. Next time he'll know better. :) So, yay, we'll play again sometime, and yay, thanks for setting that up, Ed, it was cool.

After Illuminati I played a little bit of pinball (42 million and I left it there because it was time to call Eli), and then went to [personal profile] ralphmelton and [profile] lorimelton's house for dinner. [personal profile] cellio made latkes and the others made salmon cakes and stuff. It's great, because they have three kittens, and when they opened the can of salmon... well, the only time I've seen the kittens move faster in the kitchen was when they were chasing around the laser pointer dot. We played some Apples to Apples after dinner, and then we got a huuuuuuuuuuuuge ton of dishes and stuff from Ralph and Lori. See, they got tons of really nice stuff when they got married, and so we got their old stuff. (Which of course, is really nice as well, so we're delighted with it all.)

So, all in all it's been a productive day. Now to try on my outfit I've picked out for tomorrow's concert and see how totally silly it looks...

Wow

I have the best outfit for tomorrow's Kiltie concert.
I just hope I can pull it off. It's almost too cute.

(This is rare for me to actually plan an outfit, but this is special. I'll give you a hint that it involves a short plaid mini-kilt and that it's close enough to cosplay that someone might take a picture of me at a con if I wore it...)
interview with Klaus Teuber that was forwarded around CMU. Very interesting, if you've played Settlers of Catan and such... he also claims that over 50% of the people who buy Siedler or have played it online, etc, are women. Which is odd to me. I don't think I've ever been beaten at Settlers by another woman. (I've noticed that a lot of them don't play the sheer numbers as forcefully as I do.) I guess I also don't end up in Settlers games with other women all that often either, though. Maybe sometimes at Ralph's, and maybe a few times in the lounge...

My copy of Xtreme Racing SSX showed up today (yay for Japanese sellers on Ebay), so I am going to go try that out now.
