game picoreview: X-treme Racing SSX
Dec. 11th, 2001 12:24 amoh my god the graphics are amazing.
however, this game has etched one fact into my soul, at the deepest level, that I cannot ignore any longer:
Not having a PSX2 memory card really bites. I should go get one.
anyway, other than not being able to progress the quality of the players and their snowboards, it's a pretty sweet game. Kaori is sooooooo cute. I actually found I could understand almost all of the Japanese in the game except the part where they explain how to do Misty turnflips... I forget how to do it and the particular explanation didn't make any sense to me. It's neat because I don't have too much skill yet but can enjoy playing, and I saw some of the advanced tracks, which will be great to conquer eventually. I even managed to place 1st in a Snowdream race...
the only other downside to it is that it sounds like it's loading stuff alllllll the time. I can hear the disc spinning around in the PSX2 a lot, and it takes a while to load the racetracks and all.
