Yesterday I went to the doctor's office. We suspect my three weeks of sore throat have either been caused by some bacteria or possibly mono. Unfortunately, I am too scared of needles and blood to get my blood taken for a mono check, so they just took a throat culture and prescribed some antibiotics to me, and if it's bacterial that'll take care of it, and if not, uh... more rest and fluids and crap for Deanna for the next few weeks while we wait for whatever virus to go away. And if not, I'll have to stop being scared and have more blood taken, unhappy as that will make me.

After the doctor's office, Eli and I went to the TG at CMU, where they had yummy Dave and Andy's ice cream, and where I chatted with bunches of my friends.

After that, I went to the KGB halloween party, where I stood around for an hour going "I wish I knew more than one-third or so of these people," because well, I don't know most of the current KGB membership. I ran a game of Silent Football. Becca Stallings actually showed up, though, and I wish she had run it because I kept screwing up. Oh well. I think people had fun, I'm not sure. It's hard to tell whether people in KGB hate me these days or not. I guess the main thing is that I hope once the game started my obvious "former KGB 2nd VP charisma" kicked in enough to be effective. After the game I stuck around a bit to chat with Becca and people, and then I had to go to the UC, because I was meeting up with Nick to see the movie "America's Sweethearts", which was showing in McConomy.

There were a whole bunch of people playing Magic in the UC at the time, which is where I found Nick. Martin was also there and he showed me his game that he's using for his senior research thesis, which is pretty neat, and I want to get a copy, it is lots of fun, it's a puzzle game with robots, and since I dunno how much he's been talking about it, I guess I shouldn't either. We went to the movie. I liked it a lot, although I don't feel like a great void would be in my life if I hadn't seen it. I guess the main thing is that I try to see John Cusack movies if at all possible. I think I've seen most of his movies. Hmm, IMDB has 47 movie credits for him, and I have seen 18 of them. A bunch of these look like TV movies or something, though, so they don't count. I dunno. It occurs to me that I seem to stick to actors the way I stick to authors/book characters, in my movie-watching tendencies. Like, once I decide I like an actor, I will generally go try to see a lot of their other movies. Like John Cusack, or Drew Barrymore, or Kevin Smith, or George Newbern, or... hmm, there's also movie types I like, like "80's teen comedy", that I will stick to. I dunno. Just pondering this all.

At any rate, it was an entertaining movie. It turns out it was loosely, loosely based on Singin' in the Rain (which I can sort of see which parts they could draw a parallel to, but it's not really anything like it) and it seems that Nick has never seen Singin' in the Rain (which is my favorite movie), and I've never seen his favorite movie, the Shawshank Redemption, so we've decided we have to do a favorite-movie-swapping evening sometime. Of course, I'm going out of town so many times and he's all busy taking the GRE's, but we'll figure it out one of these weekends.

I came home and played DDR for a while last night. I comboed the entire "Young Forever" Maniac in front of Eli, which was cool, although I failed to combo "B4U" trick, which I had actually done in the arcade, so I felt a little silly. I then worked on Paranoia for a while. I managed to combo almost all of it. Yay. Then I got out some of Eli's CDs that I'd noticed that I called "high school music" because they were stuff I listened to in high school, and we listened to those while I fell asleep waiting for Eli to finish using my computer so I could write this last night, but I was too tired. We need a second networked computer here.

Oh yeah, and Brad just sent me mail telling me that not only did the arcade we played 5th mix at in Austin just got another DDR 4th mix machine, and is getting DDR MAX soon. And the 4th mix Plus arcade dropped their price to 50 cents for 5 songs (from 75 cents for 4 songs). How depressing.

So I'm supposed to go get some antibiotics soon, too. I'm hoping they don't do nasty stuff to me...

Whee. I just looked up the full title of the song I'm listening to (I always just think of it as "jitensha") so I wonder if I can actually post the whole thing in the current music field.
