Whoa.

We (Amazon) just hired the guy (Udi Manber) who wrote the algorithms textbook I used in 15-451 (Algorithms) at CMU, as our Chief Algorithms Officer. Is that fucking weird or what?

I didn't even know there was such a thing as a "Chief Algorithms Officer".

Ok, that is a very cool title. Now I want it.

That's really cool, and now I know my life will not be complete until I can put "Chief Algorithms Officer" on my resume.

arrgh.

Udi worked at my company. He did a lot. We've lost so many good people in the last year. I didn't know he had left until now.

Then again, i suppose i don't care too much about the place. But still.

You guys picked up a terrific new employee!

Sign of an important and interesting company that they need to have a Chief Algorithms Officer.

Do you have such things as subordinate algorithms officers or an algorithms department?
