At my dad's apartment, with my uncle. We are trying (unsuccessfully) to hack his 24" iMac :)

Had a hoagie and birch beer and Tastykakes. Still not crying. Will see my brother in a bit and stuff though. Funeral tomorrow. Hmm.

Boot from an install disc. That should give you access to just about everything on the hard drive. I'm not sure if you can reset the Mac OS user passwords that way, though.

Well, the problem is things like... his Quicken files... we need access to his financials and it's a big mess and he didn't expect to go so soon, and if he DID write down passwords anywhere, we have no clue where.

Quicken actually has a service to handle this kind of situation:

It's refreshing to know that the files aren't actually encrypted in any meaningful way. If a service can crack them, I guarantee someone else can.
