more inspiration for indecision

Just watched Sliding Doors. Hmm, I thought it was pretty good.

I still have a little bit of trouble trying to appropriately string together the events in the movie. Like she was feeling faint at the same time in both realities because of being pregnant, but somehow I thought she had become pregnant in both realities by Jerry, but it turned out in the "happy" reality that it was by James. (which makes sense when I remember what events happened, but didn't when i was watching the movie). There were a few times when I honestly couldn't remember who the heck was still together with who in which realities, but it wasn't much of a problem. The main problem was time. It was usually hard to tell how much time had passed between whatever scenes were being shown.

the only thing I didn't get was the ending. well, I mean, I got it - they couldn't end the "happy" reality and then not have the illusion of a happy ending anyway -- but what is unclear to me is what happened in reality reality. Unless the idea is that when the happy reality Helen died, she took that entire reality with her... so the James she meets at the end has never known her, except for in the old PR firm and that one second at the bar at the beginning... and he has just been going on with separating with his wife and was just in the hospital to visit his mother, etc.

well, whatever. it's just going to make me even more indecisive about things... funny how just replaying 5 seconds of your life differently can make such a difference.

Lola Rennt was indeed very good. If nothing else, it's got a great soundtrack.
