Fight-Oh!

LJ keeps losing its cookies, and thus I keep not seeing friends-only posts, and accidentally posting anonymous. It's pissing me off.

Umm, not much to say. After volleyball yesterday I ended up spending the evening at home playing Pop'n'Music and writing, rather than watching Gokusen, so as a result, I ended up watching Gokusen tonight instead. Oren and I got through three more episodes of it. That Jun Matsumoto kid is just too cute for his own damn good. The only thing about the series I don't get is that Yankumi's family doesn't really feel entirely Yakuza-like to me... her grandfather is just this nice old guy and you totally can't imagine him being a gangster. Heck, if Tetsu and Minoru didn't go nuts and yell at people for no reason once per episode, I'd say the same for them. Either way the show's been really funny and I wish Carl was here to watch it with us.

(oh - Oren, as an aside, the girl who played Sawada's sister was the same girl (Ichikawa Yui) who played Yuki in Taiho, no wonder she looked so damn familiar)

The elevator in my apartment building keeps breaking. Arrrrgh. Maybe I should just walk up the 6 flights of stairs every day and save myself the trouble of being pissed off.

LJ's had to make a couple changes to the way cookies are stored. Which is why the logouts occurred. Might be a good idea to watch the lj_maintanence community, as that last cookie loss was announced a few hours before it actually happened.

Most of the maintenance is done, so you should be okay now. Burt if you visit pages of users with underscores in their usernames, you may still run into problems as there seem to be some possible issues with that.

That cookie thing worries me only because of rumors that hackers are going after LJ en masse, and that we all now have access to LJ subdomains because of it.

[livejournal.com profile] news and [livejournal.com profile] lj_maintenance have covered what's going on pretty well.

I think this explanation (http://azurelunatic.livejournal.com/4817217.html) is more amusing, though.

The extra-short version is that two major new non-LJ-specific security vulnerabilities were discovered at the same time, and fixing them is a big enough deal to need to be done ASAP even if sometimes has annoying side effects like code being pushed with less time to test it than usual.

Ahhh...so that's what it is. And I thought it was my end tossing its cookies!

Hey Dee, that used to piss me off too, so what I did was make a friends group that had all my friends in it. You can't look at your friends groups unless you're logged in, so when I try to go to my friends page (which I have set to my all_friends group) it tells me that I'm not logged in, rather than silently not showing me locked posts. So ya know.
