I wonder if she's sneaky enough to be playing the meta-game: "Gee, I missed the bus. I want to stay home, but no one will believe that I *really* missed the bus accidentally. Hmm, I can try to drive there. If I make sure to have a minor accident so I never *get* there, they'll commend me for my dedication and probably send me back home. Then I can goof off instead of sitting through English, and my parents won't dare punish me..." Well, if so, joke's on her. :-)
I'm not sure, because memory is a tricky thing and I was one of those weirdos who *liked* school, but I *think* I would have been able to think of this at the age of 9.
I'm 24 now and haven't learned yet... but I haven't quite hit the pressure point where I'm driven enough to learn. I do have the forms to get a permit though - I ought to do that sometime.
