from zephyr:

3rd-grader Misses Bus, Drives to School

maybe I *should* get kicking on this learning-to-drive thing...

Yay for living within walking distance of our 8 year-old son's school!

I wonder if she's sneaky enough to be playing the meta-game: "Gee, I missed the bus. I want to stay home, but no one will believe that I *really* missed the bus accidentally. Hmm, I can try to drive there. If I make sure to have a minor accident so I never *get* there, they'll commend me for my dedication and probably send me back home. Then I can goof off instead of sitting through English, and my parents won't dare punish me..." Well, if so, joke's on her. :-)

I'm not sure, because memory is a tricky thing and I was one of those weirdos who *liked* school, but I *think* I would have been able to think of this at the age of 9.

I wish I'd managed to get my driver's license early. I got mine at 24.

If I'd been smart, I would have gotten it at 16 or 18, and then had really low rates at 24 when I started to drive...
