whee for Canada

[profile] crackoon and I went to Canada today. We pretty much went to Richmond, to an arcade/poolhall called E-Spot. The arcade part has a buncha music games, notably one wall has IIDX Red (11th), KBM, Drummania V and Guitar Freaks V (is that what, 12/11?). They also have a Rock Fever machine, a DDR, a DMX, a Shakkato Tambourine, and various Bishi Bashi games.

We played IIDX for about four hours, switching off, and sometimes playing other music games (I'm partial to Rock Fever. Oh boy, do I loves me my silly Korean Pop songs.) Considering I haven't played IIDX in a while I didn't do terribly badly, but I didn't do terribly well either. I had fun playing some new songs, and was direly disappointed we couldn't seem to find Everyday Lovelyday on the machine. James is scary good at IIDX now.

Then I wanted to go on a CD-hunting trip. We went around a bunch of shops and eventually ended up at the Richmond Centre mall, where we got A&W for dinner, yay, and I went to an HMV, and I finally got a copy of Great Big Sea's never-released-in-America album "Play", yay! I am even listening to it right now. I also picked up some Tragically Hip CDs that I saw cheap, and bought the DVD set of the first two seasons of Trailer Park Boys.

(I really need to get a job soon so I don't feel so guilty about buying crap. I also really should get rid of some of the crap I have. Sigh.)

We went back to E-Spot and played some more IIDX, and then hit the road and came back here.

Oh yeah, we didn't have any wait or trouble at the border either way. That was good.

Might have to head up that way myself in a few weeks or so. How long did the border crossings take?

I'm taking the week of the 9th off, and working Saturdays the next three weeks after that, so I'll have plenty of weekday opportunities from that point on. For some reason I was thinking that crossing took a lot longer than that, even during the slow times ... glad to see that I was wrong. And finally found my birth certificate, so won't have any problems on that front.

I'm already taking a week off from the 3rd-9th for Matt and Rumi's wedding, so I probably won't take any weekdays off until at least late May. Theoretically, you may have a job by then anyway, right?

It might be of interest to you that a bunch of Japanese execs came out to lok at Gameworks and were shocked by the lack of new games so they will be getting about 20 new games in the near future. Hopefully that will include some good ones ^^

So I gather they didn't have Taiko No Tatsujin at E-Spot any more?

The Taiko machine's at CHQ now, but it's been off for the last 6 weeks.

Reminds me that I need to pick up season 2 of Trailer park boys next time I'm up north. How is it?

If you're being lazy about the trip like I was, amazon.ca ships to america...

IIDX in Canada?!

What's the address for E-Spot, btw? I'll have to make a trip up there sometime soon. :)
