I've never officially quit a job before today...

March 23, 2004

To whom it may concern:

I am writing this letter to announce my resignation from the position of Programmer Writer at Amazon.com, effective at the end of the day today, March 23, 2004.

While it has been a wonderful learning experience working here, I feel that my growth and productivity as a technical writer does not sync up with the current aims and objectives of the Technical Documentation and Training department. I wish them and the company all the best in the future.

Regrettably yours,

Oh, what's next? Good idea, I should tell y'all.

Well, I'm going to Japan with [profile] nykkel from March 31 - April 12. That was the "insanity" I talked about a few months ago.

Then I'm going to Spring Carnival. I'll be staying there as long as [profile] dvarin will let me :) Okay, not really. But I should be around for longer than just the Fri-Sat-Sun I'd originally thought was happening.

Then I'm going to Sakuracon, probably working for [profile] damienroc in guest relations, although we have to work out those details. I may also have a particular PP-celebrity houseguest for a couple days around then as well.

In the middle of May, I'm going to Philly for a week or two for my cousin's Bat Mitzvah, and to spend some significant time with my family for once and eat some cheesesteaks.

Infact, I'd like to do a lot of travelling while I have the time. So here's a proposal for you guys -- if I can find a plane ticket price that I can afford to where you are, and you will provide me crash space and drive me around, I will come visit you. At this rate, the sky's the limit, pun intended. Heck, I could even go to England or something :)

I plan to actually go look for a job sometime in June or July (hopefully [profile] tanuwa will still be a recruiter then, heh). Yes, I've saved up enough money that I'll be okay for a couple months, I'll just have to actually budget myself a little better.

Wow, you know who Lou and Peter Berryman are? That's getting up there for national obscurity. They're still kicking around-- my mom has taken some master gardening classes with Peter's wife, and I think both of them live a few blocks from me on the near east side. I've seen them quite a few times at various events, though admittedly more often when I was younger and got dragged to various festivals and folky concerts. They're not bad at all.

And everyone is terrified of my husband, which we both find hilarious. The only thing you should be afraid of is that if you are a fairly quiet person (like poor Sugarpie) the Homullus/Thusnelda comedy routine can and will monopolize the conversation, as we find each other very funny indeed. The guy BOUNCES, for heaven's sake. His favorite method of playing this week involves wearing his new motorcycle goggles around the house -- never mind that he can't use them for real yet because he hasn't gotten his prescription in them yet. How could you be afraid of a guy like that?
