I've never officially quit a job before today...

March 23, 2004

To whom it may concern:

I am writing this letter to announce my resignation from the position of Programmer Writer at Amazon.com, effective at the end of the day today, March 23, 2004.

While it has been a wonderful learning experience working here, I feel that my growth and productivity as a technical writer does not sync up with the current aims and objectives of the Technical Documentation and Training department. I wish them and the company all the best in the future.

Regrettably yours,

[scribbled signature]

Oh, what's next? Good idea, I should tell y'all.

Well, I'm going to Japan with [profile] nykkel from March 31 - April 12. That was the "insanity" I talked about a few months ago.

Then I'm going to Spring Carnival. I'll be staying there as long as [profile] dvarin will let me :) Okay, not really. But I should be around for longer than just the Fri-Sat-Sun I'd originally thought was happening.

Then I'm going to Sakuracon, probably working for [profile] damienroc in guest relations, although we have to work out those details. I may also have a particular PP-celebrity houseguest for a couple days around then as well.

In the middle of May, I'm going to Philly for a week or two for my cousin's Bat Mitzvah, and to spend some significant time with my family for once and eat some cheesesteaks.

Infact, I'd like to do a lot of travelling while I have the time. So here's a proposal for you guys -- if I can find a plane ticket price that I can afford to where you are, and you will provide me crash space and drive me around, I will come visit you. At this rate, the sky's the limit, pun intended. Heck, I could even go to England or something :)

I plan to actually go look for a job sometime in June or July (hopefully [profile] tanuwa will still be a recruiter then, heh). Yes, I've saved up enough money that I'll be okay for a couple months, I'll just have to actually budget myself a little better.

Ohh, Ohh, come visit me in Canada!

Sorry to hear that things didn't work out. As the 34th commenter here, I see you have plenty of connections to see you through these times. :)

My company's still looking to hire around 7 people this year. If you don't mind returning to Pittsburgh, let me know.

All the best,
Jason

Hi, my boyfriend [livejournal.com profile] gootmu is an unemployed programmer living in Pittsburgh right now - can I point him at you? Please? I'm desperate to get him a job and get him out of the house ;)

Sure. Check your e-mail for more info. (I assumed griffin@andrew as the address, since that's what finger returned for mg4h@andrew.)

I wish you more happiness and sanity in your daily life.

I hope you enjoy your time off and visits to friends ;)

I hope you do find a job before the money runs out.

Congratulations! Probably the hardest thing to do in life is to recognize that you are in a bad situation and take a proactive risk to fix it. Good luck with your next search and be sure to get some good references you can take into your interviews.

If you ever feel like meeting the hippies of upstate New York, I have crash space.

Have fun with your free time.

And, of course, we've always got crash space if Nick doesn't. Good luck, Deanna.

Soooooo . . .

Didn't comment on this earlier. Allow me to say,
Good on you for leaving!
If you don't like what you are doing and don't see alot of room for improvement . . . good call.
Some people have already mentioned the Bay Area, I'll add my name to the list.
Erik and I have the official secondary party house . . . cause it's just that cool.

That was meant to include an offer of crash space if you want . . . house = more space than my old apartment so room to crash.

It would be wonderful to get to see you! [livejournal.com profile] jumbach claims he was looking online the other day: USD$329 (GBP182 or so?) San Francisco->Birmingham on Virgin r/t. If that price is still available then it's damn good, but the best I could find with Virgin was SFO to LHR and back for $599. (Perhaps some other airline services SFO to BHX?)

Bluntly, I fall very short on the "drive you around" side, because I can't drive, and short on the "provide you crash space" side, because I still live with my parents. Bah, I suck. On top of that, my discretionary "trips to other parts of the UK" budget is really cut back unless there is a trip to see my wonderful new girlfriend attached. So, perhaps, not what you were hoping to hear, but them's the facts.
