That would be Spring '97, at the SCS undergrad picnic. It was sunny. I sat down next to some people I vaguely knew on the part of the mall closest to the Wean entrance. I forget exactly why, but at some point you were referred to by name, and I, who had previously gleaned a favorable and impressive idea of you from what bboard posts of yours I saw, spoke the line which I will not repeat here.

Then I completely forgot about you for a summer until you showed up in the lounge studying Japanese, at which point I don't remember if I remembered your name, because, unlike you, I really suck at that sort of thing. :P

i remember messing with you, or trying to mess with you at CTSWF in fall 1997... pretending there were stairways that didn't exist or something.

i remember doing japanese homework with you in the lounge.

but what i remember is having a conversation with you at 1:30 in the morning and just finding out we had all of this weird stuff in common. like you said something about always having your close friends live half an hour away, or whatnot. i don't know, you were just so *different* from everyone else, and you seemed to like a lot of the same things i did, and... I just thought you were super-cool. still do. well, except that whole 3000 miles thing. hi.
