Another day at Jingu
Jun. 12th, 2010 08:38 pmI was given a free ticket to tomorrow's final game of the college tourney against Tokai vs. Toyo, but I am seriously considering just sitting at home and watching it on TV instead, since BS1 is bothering to broadcast it. I was at Jingu for about 7 hours today through two games, it went up to 28-29 degrees or so, which is mid-80's. I can survive it but in all honesty, I just want to see the game, so why not watch in my airconditioned room, on TV? I'll be saving the time and money to get to/from Jingu, too... on the other hand I really do prefer going to games in person, usually, and hey, free ticket... on the other other hand, free ticket because my other college ball friends decided they don't feel like going since Keio isn't in the finals. So hm.
As for today, yeah, I spent it at Jingu again. First game was Keio-Tokai. We sat in the front row on the Keio side by the camera well, I got there around 10:20am for an 11:30 game, and fortunately that entire row was being saved by friends of mine. When the Keio guys came out we all clapped and cheered for them, and Nagasaki-kun actually bowed and waved at all of us as he went by, including me! So cute :)
But they were so totally doomed. I was going to the game mostly to see Tomoyuki Sugano close up, he's Tokai's ace pitcher, I've seen him pitch a few times before in other tournaments but always from way back in the Tokyo Dome, not from the front row of Jingu. And he didn't disappoint me at all. OMFG he is GOOD. REALLY fucking good. Dude can throw 97mph according to the Jingu guns, which is big for a college pitcher here, but not only that, he can throw these unreal curves and whatnot and throw them for STRIKES, too. Jesus. He struck out 17 Keio batters. No joke. I felt kind of bad because I really did want Keio to win, but at the same time, Sugano was just awesome. I am totally going to be in love with him until the Giants draft him next year because he's Tatsunori Hara's nephew. Sigh.
So yeah, Tokai won 5-0. My friends all left after that game.
I went to the bathroom and to put on more sunscreen and get another drink and whatnot, and came back out for the Toyo-Hachinohe game. It was a lot closer and a lot more boring to be honest. But what really bit was that both starting pitchers were lefties, which meant I was sitting on the TOTALLY WRONG SIDE to take photos, but I was TOO LAZY TO MOVE. So whatever. Toyo was no-hit for the first 5 innings, then got in a few key hits and beat Hachinohe 5-1.
I walked to Shibuya after that via Kua'Aina, where I stopped in for dinner, and then I went to the Book-Off in Shibuya, where I found nothing I am looking for specifically, but they had the 2007 Fall Big 6 DVD cheap, so I got that.
I hate Shibuya. Trendy stupid young loud people and tourists in big crowds is really not my thing.
Now I am home, and I have a bit of a headache, and should do some laundry, which is probably why I'm thinking "Dude I should stay home tomorrow". Or I could go to Jingu and sit behind home plate in the second deck or something instead, so at least I'd be in the shade, maybe.
OH, I got my JLPT voucher! I'm taking it at Mejiro University, Shinjuku campus. What a way to spend the 4th of July, huh.
