Back to work today. Whee. It was really a good thing I brought so much stuff in the night before, because my brain was jelly on the way to work in the morning. But, classes went okay. And people seemed to like the ankoro and ame and stuff I brought in from Kanazawa.

Also, it seems that I have now been working at GEOS for 5 months. YIKES. I was looking at the February calendar, saw "Sprint Unit 17", and said "Hey, that's the chapter we were on when I arrived here!" and realized the implications of that statement.

One of my old students who had quit and come back restarted today, so that was happy. Of course, he had left during my time where I was pretending I don't speak Japanese... so today in class we were talking about crime words and I asked about crime TV shows and movies, so we're talking about Furuhata Ninzaburo, and Odoru Daisousassen, and suddenly he's all like "WAIT A MINUTE, DO YOU SPEAK JAPANESE?" and I pause and sort of half-smile and I'm like "Er... of course I don't?"

Yeah, anyway, after work I had dinner with Oren, who is back in Tokyo. We went to Anrakutei and had yakiniku! Yaaaaay.

As insane as it sounds, I'm vaguely trying to figure out what it would take for me to go to CMU Spring Carnival this year. I'd probably take off a week, so it'd be like flying to Seattle on Sunday here (arriving Sunday there), fly to Pittsburgh that Wednesday or Thursday, fly back to Seattle on late Saturday or early Sunday, then fly back to Tokyo that Sunday afternoon (arriving Monday here), go back to work Tuesday. I guess the real downside is the $1400 or so in airfare I'd have to spend.
Actually, I really don't have many:

1) Visit the other big islands of Japan (Shikoku, Hokkaido, Kyushu). This includes seeing a Hawks game in Fukuoka and a Fighters game in Sapporo, hopefully.

2) Pass the JLPT 2-kyuu in December.

That's really about it. There are other things it'd be nice to do, but too many of them depend on external circumstances that I have very little control over, or aren't really quantifiable. "Find friends and hobbies in this country" is a little too nebulous for my tastes, as is "Figure out what the hell I'm doing with my life".

I thought I could think of some baseball writing goals, but in reality I'm almost wondering whether I'm going to continue with that at all.

Last year my only new year's resolution was "Move to Japan". See, everyone has to start somewhere.
