Oct. 25th, 2004

I haven't written anything since Wednesday night because Thursday afternoon they released the Apothecary puzzle on Puzzle Pirates.

So I left work a little early on Thursday so I'd be able to play it before D&D... oh man! The puzzle makes my head hurt so much. It's like Pipe Dream and Time Agent all in once. Ah well, so anyway, all that tons and tons of shipping stuff I've done in the last few weeks is finally paying off as people are buying lots of stuff from my apoth stall. Yay.

D&D was all good except I couldn't cast any good spells because they were all area affects and my party kept being in the way and I was rolling low for initiative. Ugh.

Friday I really didn't do much of anything... stayed late at work, did a Whole Foods stop for dinner, came home, played the apoth puzzle and whatnot.

Saturday was pretty fun. In the afternoon Drew and Brian came over here. We did a Red Mill run and picked up lunch (calling ahead on the weekend is a good idea) and came back and played some Ricochet Robot and a bunch of Ticket to Ride and a game of Carcassonne. After that, Drew had to go to a bridge game, and the gang was watching the first World Series game at the House of Slack so I invited Brian to come along and we went there. Lots of people were there... pretty much the whole gang except Mike, and Heidi was at work. The game itself was really entertaining, and it's really quite cool watching it on a huge screen in someone's basement with Tivo'ing. It's also cool when said friends make lots of yummy snacks and munchies. ("What, so if we eat apples with the caramel that makes us think it's healthy?")

Today I didn't really do much -- I continued an effort I started before -- I had cleaned up the apartment significantly on Friday night for people to come over Saturday -- so today I emptied out another box or two of stuff and even put together another Goodwill box. It's a little sad because a lot of the stuff I was going through was like... my toys and stuffed animals from when I was a kid, that my dad sent me a while ago. Some of them I just look at and go "Ugh, there's no way in hell I really will ever need these again, and I wouldn't expect kids of mine to play with them, so what's the point of keeping them?" and then I half go "oooh, sentimental value". Then I throw half of it in the Goodwill box.

Anyway, I got to Goodwill 20 mins too late to donate my box of stuff, which sucks, so I went to Sunset and played 3 games of DDR, and how the heck am I so out of it that I feel exhausted after 3 games? I really need to play more :( After that I came back and did grocery shopping. I got some pasta salad for dinner. It sucks. What sucks more is that I got it because I figured it'd be a good cheap dinner, and lunch tomorrow, so I'm inclined to eat the rest of it even though it sucks, because it saves me buying lunch tomorrow. Sigh.

Ah well, and that's the evening.

Also, I've been listening to the soundtracks from Avenue Q and Damn Yankees and (the new) Assassins a lot. I bought most of those at Tower last weekend. The new Assassins isn't really as cool as the old, and their female leads are atrocious. On the other hand I'm glad to finally have a recording with "Something Just Broke" on it. Avenue Q is great except the sex songs, which seem kind of out of nowhere (not counting Trekkie Monster's show-stealer).

Here I go to apoth some more and then sleep. (If anyone in PP needs an apoth job, my stall on Turtle pays well and always has a queue!)

Hey, uh, anyone know of any good Halloween Parties going on (in Seattle, or within driving distance) this year? I just realized it's next weekend and I don't actually know of any (and this year I'm not throwing one for obvious reasons)
