dr4b: (mariners)
So, since Jorge (a CMU CS Lounge friend of mine) was in town this weekend, and staying with Brian, I figured we should all hang out and do something. Being as Brian and I came up short of ideas and the weather was lousy, we decided to go to the Mariners game. Turns out it was Jorge's first baseball game ever, heh. So they came over here, we went to Northgate and took a bus downtown, and got there fairly early and grabbed food and scorecards and whatnot.

The game itself was so-so. The new kid Baek was pitching and he wasn't awful but he wasn't stellar either, and gave up several runs, including walking a few in, it was somewhat pathetic. I kept forgetting that Brian isn't Jeff and didn't go with me to Tuesday's game so I kept talking to him as if he was. It was kinda funny I guess. The Mariners lost, which sucks, 'cause I hate Oakland and stuff.

We went back to my place for a bit after the game to decide what to do next. We grabbed some games I ended up driving out to Brian's place (as did they, so all cars would be on the east side) and got to see his new kitten. She is indeed a puffball and so very small. There is no cellphone reception in Brian's apartment, so I tried to get in touch with Drew and failed until he already had plans. We played a game of Manhattan on a makeshift table of boxes. I won, strangely enough. Then we decided to grab Puerto Rico and go over to the Celtic Bayou to hang out for the rest of the evening.

If only I liked their food, the CB would really be a great place. I mean, the staff is super-nice, they have TVs with baseball, and that day they had live music, which was a decent jazz band that played lots of good stuff. So we hung out and got dinner and played PR, which Jorge had never played before. Brian played the "make coffee and sell for lots of money" strategy, I played the "hospice-factory" strategy, and Jorge played the "ship lots of tobacco and corn" strategy. Brian and I, in the end, tied EXACTLY -- 38 points each, 3 coins, no goods. DEAD tie. Pretty cool. Jorge had 32, not bad for his first game ever.

So yeah, I dropped the guys back at Brian's place and then drove home around midnightish I guess. Did the PP thing for a while, mostly hunting skellies and talking to people.

Oh, a side thing is that I have been backing up my computer all along. Saturday night I actually hit the "done" stage -- where I had everything worth keeping burned to CD. That's 22 CDs. Whee.
