So I overslept for the Team Tourney yesterday.. it started at 10 and I got there around 11:30. But it worked out okay I guess.
I spent the next 8 hours pretty much writing down scores, doing some computer work, running papers back and forth, and occasionally playing Bemani games. Did some DM, Beatmania, and a little DDR too. Whee.
Saw many many people, too many to list. The Team Seattle people had jerseys with numbers on the back and the Portland people (AKA Team Wenis) had t-shirts with numbers too, and these complex uniforms that apparently Tyler was behind. Red sweatpants and grey shorts and white 80's socks with black lines at the tops, and wristbands and headbands and well, it was really cool but really frightening. Hopefully someone will send me a picture.
There were seven other teams in all, but those are the two winning ones that had distinctive outfits.
The funny thing is, it was really good to see everybody, probably because I just don't see them that often anymore. I actually think it's good to help out at a tourney like this and not enter... entering makes me all nervous and whatnot anyway. And sitting at the table means everyone stops by to see you. Heck, even non-DDR people like Jeff stopped by to see me. Hee. And Pete and Steve and people were there but they all left early, which means I have to go to Portland sometime...
After the tournament we went to Red Robin, where I ate too many fries. They also brought out birthday things for me and Amber and Joelle so it was like having a birthday party again anyway. (Amber and my birthday is May 7 and Joelle's is May 8.) We had dorky glasses and coffee filter hats and balloons and were given ice cream sundaes with a candle in them, and everyone at the table sang and clapped. I'd had a milkshake so I was ice-creamed out though, so I gave mine to Tyler.
Drove James and Yuna home... I was super-tired and almost falling asleep at the wheel. Then I came home. I had a package from
lqiu which is a Devil Duckie Drive... oi... one of those USB ducks. It's horrendously cute, I haven't tried using it yet though. Thanks Li.
I was going to wake up today and go to the Yankees game, but instead I woke up with a HORRIBLE stomachache. As in, it was so awful I couldn't get back to sleep. I took some of my zantac and some Pepto and drank some soda and well... I've just spent the day mostly laying around and being uncomfortable. I hate to have wasted the day, but any time I tried to get up and do anything active, my stomach just felt like it was threatening to explode inside me. I did eat some macaroni at some point and haven't thrown up, so I guess that's good. I'm guessing this is some sort of stomach flu or food poisoning. If it hasn't gone away tomorrow I'll worry.
Anyway, the good part is that I read like 70 pages of the Robert Whiting book, and I read all of the Mariners Magazines I hadn't read yet, and I called my mom for Mother's Day, so at least it wasn't a total waste of a day. I did play a whole bunch of PP, mostly just randomly hanging out and carping. Been talking to crewmates and others a lot more lately, especially Aralyn and Bieyen. I led a pillage last night that went okay, and today I sailed up a buncha stuff for Tedv's tailor, and I pillaged with Greenwolf and friends, and I forget what else. It's been interesting. Unfortunately, the Papaya blockade didn't work out, which makes me sad because I was hoping Ayliv would take the island and keep it as a fun hangout place.
Um, I should sleep. Whee.
