So my group went out to lunch today to celebrate Stephen's last day at Amazon, he was our group's intern, and a great one at that, I'm going to miss him. Anyway, we went to Wild Ginger, an upscale Pan-asian restaurant by 3rd and Union. It was majorly expensive, like the bill was $220 for the 9 of us for lunch. But the food was interesting and mostly pretty good. We had potstickers and spring rolls as an appetizer, and then for lunchy things we did family-style and got szechuan green beans, vegetable monk curry, some sort of lamb thing, seven-flavor beef, and then... duck. And people were like "why aren't you eating the duck? it is FABULOUS" and rather than explain my obsession with ducks, I ate a small piece. :( I pretended it was chicken. It wasn't awful but I really don't think I like to eat ducks because I mean, they're ducks :( I don't really like lamb either for the same reason. But, it was a nice lunch and I think Stephen really enjoyed it, which is what matters.
Oh, and I got to ride back with Yan driving, which is a lot like being in Crazy Taxi, he goes like 60mph through the random downtown Seattle streets, very scary shit. The afternoon was spent doing random stuff... a lot of it was a wash just because so many people were in and out of our office, and then Stephen gave a "how I spent my summer vacation" explanation of the stuff he wrote, and... then I called Josh and asked him about Gigantic (the TMBG movie), and the ball game and he was like "I don't have anyone to go with, do you still want to go?" and I'm like "Hell yeah," because the game's been sold out for months.
Hour or two later I'm down at US1, meet up with Josh, go to the game, it was PACKED. ( we beat the Red Sox! YAY! )
Yeah. So anyway, the game was good, and we won, and it was a jolly good time making fun of all the Red Sox fans there. (MAN, was the stadium packed.) Afterwards despite the trains' best efforts to create a huge human traffic jam, we got out of there and came home. Yay. Josh explained a whole bunch of stuff to me about how the amateur drafts, and free agency, etc works. It's kinda wacky stuff.
Now to go read more about Ty Cobb... this book seriously rocks. And tomorrow there's the Amazon picnic, which I'm going to with
pauldf and maybe Eli. Whee!
