So today was my one-year anniversary of working at Amazon and absolutely nothing special happened except that [personal profile] pauldf sent me a "HI! HAPPY ONE YEAR!" message. I didn't even make a big deal about it to my group because eh, what the heck. I really do like my group though. I was going to write a kinda "wow, what's happened in a year" thing about some of the people I've gotten to work with in the past year, mostly for my own sake, but it'll have to wait until I'm coherent and have time. One thing I did learn today is that if you find some cool diagrams and pages someone wrote a while back, and you send them mail telling them they rock your world and that their work is awesome, they will be pretty happy to send you a ton of things that are very helpful for your current project :)

Today was also Eli's birthday! So I took him to Ray's Boathouse for dinner. It was very nice despite the rain/fog. We ate a lot of fish - specifically I had salmon for dinner and he had black cod or something, and we split clam chowder and crab cakes for appetizers. It was all really good. I decided not to bother even trying to play the wine game and just ordered a Lindemann's Framboise which came in the coolest glass ever.

We didn't get dessert there because Megan and Josh had baked Eli a birthday cake :) So we went over there, watched Josh struggle with Ocarina of Time a bit, and ate cake and hung out for a while. Eli and I were both dressed up for dinner (because Ray's is a kinda expensive restaurant) - he wore a nice shirt and pants and I wore a long black dress. But I was too lazy to shave my legs or find stockings or anything, so I wore my "dress chucks" (my black-on-black converse allstar hitops) and my SPECIAL PIANO SOCKS! I bought these piano socks on Pier 39 during the Bemani By The Bay thing in May and I'd been trying to think of a special occasion to wear them on, so this seemed special enough. Anyway, so it was a little weird being all dressy at Megan and Josh's sitting around eating cake and drinking port, but that's ok. It was fun. Now if only I hadn't schedule-screwed Eli for planning more stuff... dammit, this is why people need to plan in advance more.

I have a doctor's appointment in the morning :( I hope it goes well.
