the first half of today: we went to the Mariners game! with these excellent tickets care of
rkane care of
daviticus care of microsoft. They were really rather good but at this annoying angle wherein every time people would stand up to sell stuff in the aisles they'd obstruct our view of home plate. ANYWAY, it was a good game. We won 4-0, Joel Piniero pitched the complete game (figures since I'm wearing my Hasegawa shirt). Oddly this means that both games I saw this week were shutouts and complete games at that. The funniest moment was when Mark McLemore accidentally thought he was walked after 3 balls instead of 4. So he throws his bat down, goes to first... Bret Boone starts walking up to the plate... the sound people play the "BOONE! HERE COMES THE BOONE!" stuff... and then it's like they notice WHOA only 3 balls, stupid us... so they rewind and McLemore comes back to the plate. And then he hits a single and goes to first anyway :)
During the... I forget what inning, but I was thinking "I really want Bloomquist to do something cool. If he does, I will go down to the team store at the end of this inning and buy a Bloomquist 16 shirt." Well, he hit a double, and ended up scoring... so I went downstairs and bought a shirt :) Also got some old issues of the Mariners magazine, and some pins. Yay. Hm. There were some people in our section with a "WE JUST GOT MARRIED, THIS IS OUR HONEYMOON" sign and no matter how hard they tried they couldn't seem to get on the screen, despite that like, EVERYONE in the stadium ends up on that screen eventually. Aww.
So, anyway, we had a minor adventure getting back from the stadium - I didn't realize you couldn't get onto 90 EAST from Rainier St. So we ended up going through First Hill and stuff - Met called me, and I called Nykkel, and it was all like "Whee, finally coming home, yay."
See, so Nykkel came over and then we headed down to get Keevon from UW and then Met from Uwajimaya, and Rumi also was there and said hi. And Keevon was sure I was trying to kill him because the seatbelt on the right side in the backseat is br0k3n. But, anyway, I am still the goddess of parallel parking... but I am not the goddess of good traffic. We didn't know this but they closed two lanes of I-5 south near Tacoma which backed things up FOREVER. Fortunately, Met and Nykkel and Keevon are people I don't mind being stuck in a car with for TWO HOURS. Met and I played a funny game involving smacking around the Hello Kitty air freshener thingy, and Keevon and Met played a golf game or something on Keevon's phone, and Nykkel drummed on the seats because I had a random Bemani mix tape on. And it really wasn't too bad I guess. Eventually we got to Narrows at like... 7:30pm :O
Err, so Amber was there, and Jerrad, and Carl, and Sean/Thunderbird... and I forget who else if anyone (at first. Tanya and Pale-Charlie showed up much later). We played lots of Bemani games. Woo. There was this guy lurking on DM who kept failing songs and ignoring coin lines. And after a while there were a LOT of annoying people going around in the arcade in general. But eh, I think it was fun for the most part. I did plenty of KBM, DM, and Beatmania. And some DDR, too, but my left foot is still gimpy. I mostly played on the MAX2, and a few games on the Extreme. I do remember playing one with Nykkel and getting him to play e-motion and Be In My Paradise :) And he can pass L'amour et la Bullshit as extra stage and I can't :(
After Narrows we went to IHOP, with (around the table) Met, Amber, Nykkel, Keevon, Tanya, and Pale-Charlie. I guess it was fun except a few things I won't mention here. Needless to say, I don't really know how to react to the recent slew of random people breaking up around here. To some extent I kind of feel like it's not really my business and I'll only talk about it if someone else starts the conversation, I'm not going to pry. I dunno.
Anyway, right after IHOP I got gas for the car because it was REALLY empty, and then drove Amber home, and then drove Met home, and Keevon to the P&R, then came back here so Nykkel could get his car, and we talked for a while outside about random crap, and now I'm here and really tired and should go to sleep so I can get up and get snacks for Games Day at our house tomorrow. Whee. Oh yeah, and most of the going home car conversation was about nethack and angband and stuff. The old crew would be SO proud of me for all of the nethack knowledge I've retained. Yeah. Hi.
Oh right. Will Frank called me this morning. Now THAT was weird...
