Okay, so today started off slow. I got up and went to K-mart, still dressed in my pajamas, for some random stuff. They didn't have my jeans in my size, so I bought darker ones, shrug. Got random other things we needed like shampoo and soap, came home, showered, etc.
jinian was here hanging out with Eli for most of the day, they did some plant stuff, and she showed me how to use her sewing machine. (I told her to help me with some "threading issues". HA HA I AM FUNNY.) So now all I really have to do is cut out the material and sew it. If only I had any free time...
Anyway, eventually I got in touch with Josh and people, played a few songs on IIDX to pass the time waiting for Josh and Megan to show up, and then we headed up north to Cory and Heidi's house. Their house is ALSO awesome! It has the coolest crawl spaces and storage areas and stuff. I was really impressed just by how much sheer space they have... I love our house because it's in the city and has all of these weird extra secret rooms and things, but I think the extra secret cool things in H+C's house are more functional than the extra secret cool things in our house.
Josh and Cory and I played a game of Roads and Boats, doing an intro scenario mostly just to see how the game worked. It's another hex game, but I don't think it's actually that much like Settlers at all. You produce stuff, build better buildings to produce better stuff, break down your resources into other things, build roads and walls and such... it's kind of hard to explain. Anyway, Justin and Colleen and Mike showed up after a while, and we all ate dinner (Heidi made yummy pasta and sausage), and then we finished up the Roads and Boats game. I won, but it was mostly because I managed to build a mine earlier than Josh (shoulda made it all gold, too, whoops), and because Cory and I built a lot more into the scoring wall than Josh did early on.
5 people can play a much more fun game than 3 (Megan and Heidi and Colleen worked on quilting and stuff downstairs, while Josh, Justin, Cory, Mike and I hung out in the gaming room upstairs. Dude, how cool is it that H+C's house has a dedicated gaming room?) so after a little bit of deliberation we ended up playing Princes of Florence, which is a cool little board game wherein you build buildings and parks and courts and whatever and try to gain prestige by having happy artisans. It was kind of hard to figure out at first (reminded me of Puerto Rico, to be honest) but I caught on after a while and even did pretty well, I think I finished 2nd or 3rd. Cory totally trampled us, and I could have vaguely stopped him at one point, but I was caught in a lose-lose sort of auction. We finished up at like 1am though. Eek! There's no clocks in the gaming room, I think that's on purpose :)
Josh and Megan gave me and Mike rides home. I have to be at work at 9am. This is going to SUCK ASS. Guess it's time for sleep. Guess it's time to further appreciate the Beautiful South...
