Carried away by a moonlight shadow
Mar. 6th, 2002 01:25 amToday I exercised my independence and took a bus to the Waterfront. I shopped at Target for several hours. I tried on clothes and shoes and was really sad because the black boots I'd wanted at Target in December were no longer there - all they have is summer shoes now it seems - and I couldn't find good sneakers either - blah. I did get a black cardigan sweater and a belt and stuff. (So for my Miho from Megatokyo costume, all I need now really is some black ribbon to put in my hair, and I'll be done. Anyone have some lying around?) I also looked around Target in general. I'd never actually been through the entire store before because I always go with people for short visits with real purposes. But on my own I can do whatever I want. Which is bad in some ways. Target is a bastion of Hello Kitty merchandise. I managed to not get too much stuff... just a few trinkets. Most are even kind of useful, like folders and pens and such. I forgot to get a frame for my JLPT certificate though. Oops.
I ran into Fred the Sysadmin from WhizBang, and Jameel, at Target. Fred had some great WB gossip, but I'm not going to share it here.
After Target, I went over to Dave and Buster's, because the 59U bus doesn't run between 3pm and 6pm, and I still had time to waste. There were these people at the Pump machine, and from a distance I wondered if they were really playing, but then from close up I noticed it was a teenage girl and her parents. And the way they were playing, well, they were both grabbing on to the bar on the back of the platform and practically crab-walking to hit all the buttons. I don't think they understood that you don't need to hold on to the bar, and even aren't supposed to. It was pretty pathetic. So after they left, I got on and did a few sets. I even did the cool spins during Beethoven's Virus in Hard mode. Unfortunately, there were these people sitting at the driving game next to Pump, who KEPT SMOKING AND WOULD NOT FUCKING STOP OR GO AWAY OR ANYTHING, even after I began coughing up a lung and asked them to stop. Fuckers. So I gave up and left D&B and went back to Geagle to catch the bus. I was really hungry so I got a chicken salad wrap at Geagle, but it was really awful, so I only ate half of it, and then caught the bus back here. Yay.
A little while later, Rebecca and Bayani and Angel came over for DDR night. We started off with Beatmania because I'd been playing it for a little while before they all got here. Then we played some Frequency, which is this new music game Rebecca had for the PS2 (she even brought her PS2 because mine is Japanese and won't play American games). It was cool, but sort of a pain to catch on to - you have these 8 channels, similar to MIDI, and you have to hit buttons in a certain pattern to add sounds to a song, and then you can do these things where you auto-track the sounds, or multiply your score by getting certain sounds, and so on... it was really trippy looking though. After that we played DDR for a really long time. I bought Rebecca's extra Samba controller off of her. It isn't as good as the other one I have, but it's not too bad; after everyone left I passed a challenge using it, so... now I have two controllers for it, if anyone wants to come over and play.
Then I ate dinner, because I was really starving. I had my mint oreo ice cream for dessert with some of those Thin Mints I bought from the girl scouts yesterday, and damn was that good. Mmmmmmmm.
