Sometimes I wonder what "normal" bathing methods and times are.

1. You would apparently infer from my answer of "bar of soap, applied directly to skin" (modulo the above nit-pick) that I wouldn't need a washcloth. However, people might use washclothes for reasons other than application of soap. For example, some of us don't like to stick our faces directly under the shower to remove the soap.
2. I answered the literal question, not "how long do you take to shower, dry off, and get out of the way", which may be what you meant.

I used to use bath gel, and a loofa thingy at the gym. This was at least partially because bath gel was easier to carry in my bag than a bar of soap. I think you need an applicator with bath gel. I've pretty much always used soap without a wash cloth at home though. (An exception would be if i am JUST washing my face at the sink.)
I also probably over estimated my shower time. I just subtracted the time i left the bedroom this morning from the time i got back. But that includes tooth brushing, and toilet time, too. I figured it was alright, though, because every once in a while i'll spend a long time in the shower because I can, and it feels good. (Please don't yell at me, i already feel guilty enough about not conserving that water!)

Though, I was my face again after I shower... and I use a washcloth then, since I can never:
1) splash enough water on my face to get all the cleanser off
2) not cover the counter-top with lots of water when trying to splash enough water onto my face to get the cleanser off.

1) Work on a really nasty problem or problem-set (usually for Rudich or similar) until late at night. Do not solve/finish completely.
2) Sleep.
3) Get up, take a shower, have revelation about problem(s) while doing so. Stand there working it out mentally.
This process has been known to work even when step #2 has been skipped, although usually it works better when it is left in.

Also, my shower time pretty much depends on if I wash my hair or not. The shampoo/condition/comb/rinse combo will add about 5 minutes, so 10-15 if not, and 15-20 if I do.
