If you are a terrorist, please do not read this (Philly/DC flights)

I haven't gotten the confirmation email yet but I assume it'll go through...

Wed, Jan 20
US Airways 1548/2411
Depart Seattle (SEA) - 8:30am
Arrive Washington Reagan (DCA) - 7:42pm

I have a two-hour layover in Philly. Wooo early cheesesteak.

Fri, Jan 29
UNITED 7350/428
Depart Philadelphia (PHL) - 12:08pm
Arrive Seattle (SEA) - 5:44pm

I have an hour and a half layover in Chicago O'hare. Whee, um, cheesecake?

I'm not sure when exactly, but most likely the morning of Jan 25th, I'll take a train from DC to Philly, and spend a few days there. I'm pretty sure I'll be at my brother's house for my time in DC (he's actually up somewhere near Wheaton), and at my uncle's house for my time in Philly (so that really means like, way out on the R5, I think he's near Spring Mill)

If you are a friend of mine who lives in/near the DC or Philly areas and want to hang out sometime while I'm out there, please let me know. Other than hanging out with family, going to see my dad's grave, and going to deal with some inheritance paperwork and such, I don't really have a lot of plans yet.

So to sum up:
Jan 12: Tokyo->Seattle
Jan 20: Seattle->DC
Jan 29: Philly->Seattle
Feb 23: Seattle->Tokyo

I should put a trip to CA in there somewhere as has been requested, but still dunno when.

As for the rest of today, I spent the late morning and early afternoon hanging out with Michael Westbay (japanesebaseball.com) and Patrick Newman (npbtracker.com) at the Tokyo Dome area. (Well, it started with a little Akihabara... I was a little late due to stopping off at the bank and such.) We had lunch and talked baseball for a while. Yay.

All of us had stuff to do around 3pm, so we split up then. My thing was that I had to go to W5, the teacher-staffing dispatch company I worked for, and give back a bunch of books and manuals and stuff. My coordinator looked at the pamphlets of JHS activity ideas and said "You didn't touch these at ALL, did you?" and I was like "No... I made up all of my own games and stuff..." He told me that the school's official comments on me that went to the Board of Education included things like "We're not sure how on earth we're going to get through the spring semester WITHOUT her." So that was good. He told me W5 wants me back as a teacher in April, and 7-chu also wants me back as a teacher in April, but whether or not this will all work out with the BOEs... who knows. On the other hand they are also bidding for Kita-ku and Itabashi-ku, and if some miracle happened and they got Kita-ku I could possibly end up with a teaching job really close by!

After that, I came back to Akabane and decided to do cheap solo karaoke for an hour or two to pass the time until I'd be hungry. That was fun but I kind of blew out my throat. Around 6:30, I finished up and went to Heiroku Sushi for dinner, probly my last time there for a while, so I had like 9 plates and ordered everything I like. There was an odd moment where an old lady sitting next to me saw a picture of one of the 3-piece sets go by on the belt so she said to the guy, "I want that set", BUT there are two 3-piece sets this month so he gave her the wrong one, and she was like "No, dude, this is not what I asked for" and he said "Yes you did" and she said "I saw the photo and it had uni and ebi and..." and I butt in, "You meant the tokusen set, right?" and show her the photo on the menu, and she's like "Yeah! That!" and so I told the dude what happened, and he gave her the right sushi set. The old lady was super-apologetic and all arigato-arigato at me, which was kinda weird. Really, I'm just a sushi nerd and a Heiroku regular, so I know the menus, that's all... I did ask for modori-katsuo and he was out. I felt like also harrassing them for not having kanburi, but the guy behind the counter was one of the old dudes I totally don't know. I wonder if they already changed staff for the new year, then.

At home, cleaning my room is really such a totally doomed effort, I swear :( But I need to somehow make one shelf empty for more stuff. Alas. At least I finally got my East Coast flight details straightened out...

By the way, it was pretty much one year ago today that I last saw my dad alive. I left him at the door to his apartment building in Philly and hugged him goodbye and said "You promise to be alive next year when I come back?" and he said "Of course I will, now go catch your goddamn train to the airport."

I'm trying to make sense of your schedule. How long will you be in DC? We should meet up and hang out!

I'm still in DC, but I assume you'll want to spen thatd time with family. If there's going to be a get together of sorts in DC though let me know! (plus I'm always up for board games, though it'll probably be easier to get your fix for that in Seattle where there are many more players. I did just get Dominion Seaside for xmas and haven't played it yet!)

Have you ever been to a cheesesteak place in Burien called Hey, Paison! ? It's run by a dude from Philly (I think) and a friend of a friend who is from Philly likes it so I was just curious. :)

I will now have to give this a shot.

!!! Do they serve things besides just cheesesteaks?!? I LOVE restaurants run by people from the East Coast, but am only in the mood for a cheesesteak occasionally (since I eat meat so rarely.)

Dude, that is so awesome about the teaching and official evaluation!

That's a great evaluation!
I hope you have a good trip. I'm sorry your dad won't be there to meet you. :(
