Tis the season to be COLD

Not a lot to say about the last two days non-school-wise (school is taking up all of my mental and emotional energy right now anyway). It's cold, and today I went and got ramen for dinner, and I guess it's officially ramen season because DANG, it was so perfectly exactly what I wanted, even though it was the mediocre cheap chain ramen place near Akabane station.

Japan is so big on "seasonal" stuff and sometimes it seems silly to us outsiders, but then you have days where you really do feel the seasons shifting. For example, I was struck today by the fact that it's been exactly a year since when I headed home to the US last fall to spend time with my dad before he died. It just feels like the same time of year, oddly.

But this year I'm still not sure when I'm heading home. Still scouring flight prices in early January.

BTW, does anyone want to come hang out in Tokyo for New Year's? I have floor space and a spare futon or two! My only other thought for the holiday season is to basically do the Seishun 18 thing again and wander SOMEWHERE in the country, but since I don't ski, my best other idea is to go to the boonies somewhere of either Kyushu or Shikoku and cross off some more of the prefectures I've never been to and are unlikely to ever have a real reason to go to.

Let us know if you're having a party--we'd love to crash it. ^_^ We're not going anywhere for the New Year either.

Nice idea--let me ask Doug what he thinks. ^_^

I would love to come visit, but I'm not sure the ticket prices would be doable. Would you mind having me and possibly Chris?
