Public entry about today
I went back to school! But there are no classes yet. Our 3rd-year students are still on a trip to Kyoto, even, so the school is kind of empty. I mostly sat there at my desk and read a whole ton of 2nd-year students' "How I Spent My Summer Vacation" essays. We had no school lunch today and I went to lunch with a bunch of teachers at a place where we got a sashimi teishoku set for 780. Holy crap. It was a dish of sashimi (tuna, scallop, salmon, octopus), a bowl of soup, another bowl of vegetables, and a big dish of rice. It's the Tuesday nichigawari apparently.
After school I went to Chiba for the Fighters game! I gave pieces of castella cake from Nagasaki to my friends as omiyage, and in return I got a Doala Chip from Inaba-Fanboy who went to the Nagoya Dome for the Dragons-Swallows series over Obon, I got a grape mini-pie from Akki, who went to Yamanashi, and I got two chocolate bars from Hokkaido from Shinozawa, since he and his wife spent Obon in Sapporo watching baseball. Fun fun. I chatted with Inaba-Fanboy a bit about Yakult. It turns out that his favorite Swallows player is now Iihara, since Inaba went to the Fighters. I was like "Oh! Me too! I think Iihara is my new favorite Yakult player now that Miyade went to Rakuten..." and he said "You seem like a Miyade fan!" Heh.
The Fighters lost 9-2. That kind of sucked.
But on the other hand I got to see my friend Lisa again for the first time in ages, she's visiting Japan this week from Canada. And we're going to hang out in Sendai this weekend too! Now I just need to um... get my train and hotel stuff taken care of for Sendai. Yeah.
It's 1am, why am I not so totally zonked that I MUST FALL ASLEEP NOW? I've been up since 6am!
Oh yeah, since I haven't heard otherwise, I assume Carl made it to Kansai okay and will fly back to Seattle tomorrow. At the very least all was in order with my house when I got home (and he even locked up and threw the side key over the gate).
