Everyone loves April 15
A few things first:
1) Do any of you have my Modern Bridge Conventions book, by Root and Pavlicek? I only remember that I lent it to someone who was over here once, and cannot for the life of me remember who.
2) Joy and Ezzie and their Cats - adventures with duct tape and such.
Ok, what happened today... I hung out at home and cleaned stuff. I skipped KGB because it was really nice out and a whole bunch of grad student people (colohan, mahim, eli, bhudson, pfr, norm, and kvdpsu) were going to Dave and Andy's for ice cream and I knew KGB would be hectic and I would duck out early for Kiltie anyway. I did run into
naufiel on the way and give her money for a Carnival shirt though. Maybe tomorrow I can even stop by and see the booth and help, if boothing happens during the day. Ice cream was quite good, I got blueberry swirl and cookies'n'cream. Then I went to Kiltie. Kiltie was ok, except that I am REALLY REALLY miffed that we aren't going to be playing Music for a Celebration or American Fanfare in the concert. Those are like, two of my favorite pieces and I'm really sad I didn't get them on tape at some point. Which reminds me, I need to find someone to hold a tape recorder for me in the audience of the Kiltie concert - any takers?
After Kiltie Carl and I went to Squill. Sobajima-san showed up this time, and I was helpful in the english half of things but utterly useless in the Japanese half of things, which was frustrating. Oh well. After that we went to B&N and I bought copies of the Hobbit and Fellowship to match the copies of Two Towers and Return that Eli's dad got me for Christmas, and I also bought Root's "How to Defend a Bridge Hand" book. I had a $10 gift certificate to waste, see. We ran into Eugene and his mom there, which was sort of weird. Anyway, we went to Geagle after B&N, and then I came home, and spent the evening scanning and trading pictures. Yippee.
aw dammit! i hate reading bboards and finding out about stuff I can't go to, like the rep chorus concert tomorrow and the student film festival wednesday. well technically i could duck out on something or just go to the midnight showing of the film festival. BUT STILL. and why haven't you all invited me to cool carnival parties yet? i still don't know what i'm doing saturday night! (and no, I have never been invited to the Ann and Don party, for those who always wonder why they don't see me there) I guess I'll just wing it after the KGB party or something.
While we're at it, a moment of "whee" for April 15... for the birthdays of many of my friends (
shoebox_bird,
cheerfulchaotic, Sumner, and
mh75's Josh, and Eli's sister-in-law Brooke, and...), and in honor of the day the Titanic sunk, the day Lincoln died, and Tax day, of course...
