Jokes are funnier in the future
Just wanted to remember this because it was really silly and it's still making me giggle to remember it. I was chatting with Ben on IM yesterday about the Star Trek movie, and thanks to timezones (I was having Sunday lunch, he was having Saturday dinner) he asked me how the future is, and it went something like:
Me: Well, in the future we don't have warp technology yet, but
Me: but I can't think of a witty thing to follow that up with
Ben: You don't have punchlines in the future?
Me: Yeah, that seems kind of backwards, doesn't it? You'd think we'd have the punchline and not the joke.
This morning we had a brief revival of the joke, only this time it went something like:
Ben: Have the jokes gotten better in the future yet?
Me: Well, in the future, we still don't have warp technology
Me: But we do have punchlines!
Ben: Heh, I thought it'd make a good running joke
Me: Yes. We also have running jokes in the future!
Me: Boldly going where no pun has gone before.
