....so, I might be moving.

I talked to Sam about the termites and it sounds like someone might actually buy the property soon, in which case they're just going to knock down the house and build something new anyway, meaning the termites are moot, and also meaning I don't really care if I clean the bathroom anyway. This isn't definite, but it sounds quite possible.

So the thing is, that would mean I would have to move out fairly soon, or at least sooner than I was planning to, at any rate.

I'm a little freaked out about the idea of moving, just because I know there is so much overhead and paperwork to take care of for it, along with just the annoyance of finding a new place and actually physically moving all my stuff and getting to know a new area and all. And of course there's the fact that finding a place as a foreigner in Japan is kind of a nightmare in general, though there are reasons that it won't be quite as difficult as it would be if I was entirely on my own (but this is a public entry so I'm not going into it).

On the other hand, I'm thinking of the positive parts of moving. I could move into a modern place with a stand-up shower again, and maybe would have better insulation (but maybe not). I could live at the bottom of the fucking hill instead of the top, maybe, which would mean I would ride my bike more. I could move to a new neighborhood or stay in Akabane, though I am leaning towards staying just because my commute is good. Moving to Oji might not be bad either, I could easily ride my bike to work. I don't really want to move to Arakawa because it's a ghetto.

And to be fair, I really don't need all the space in the house. If I got an apartment the size of the two rooms I use upstairs as a living room, I'd probably be fine.

So eh. There are always good and bad things. I am hoping for good and vaguely expecting bad. We'll see. The worst is seriously just not knowing how long I will be in Japan for so it's hard to sign a lease, really.

Anyway, in the evening I went to volleyball and it was fantastic, probly partially because it was mostly not Japanese people, and partially because I was in practice from it only being a week between playing. I could actually serve, and I ended up on two really great teams, too. There were a bunch of tall scrawny white dudes there who were kinda mediocre at volleyball, that I had never seen before, but none of them were on my team. There was one guy there, not sure his nationality of Asian, and he was really great at volleyball and really friendly and spoke perfect English and he was on my team both times. And Crazy Maegawa was on my team both times as well, and I thought he didn't like me, probly because he was on one of my teams one of the really grumpy weeks last year, but the second time around last night he kept standing next to me in the rotation on purpose, which is a fairly big compliment. Last two games I was setting him and Ichiro, and vice versa, and it was just good all around. I played really well and felt really happy about it overall.

Then I ate KFC for dinner after because I was starving and totally negated the volleyball playing. Woo.

I couldn't fall asleep last night for some reason, I didn't get to sleep until 3am or so, and woke up at 6:20 today. I am going to crash hard tonight, I'm sure... on the other hand, having my laptop on the kitchen table is REALLY comfortable compared to how I had it upstairs on the TV stand thingy! I think I'll do that more...

I'm having a bad day at school. More on that in a nonpublic entry in a bit...

I have a great experience of moving myself and friends over the past 10 years. Also, my wife is into real estate and knows quite a bit.

Akudaikan went ahead and booked enough seats for everyone + alpha, so you should be fine. I'll try to be there at the station a bit earlier. I can give you my cell phone address and number in your lj inbox if you want.
