pre-firstday jitters
It's almost 1am! I need to wake up at 6:20am so I can be out the door at 7:20am to go to my school so I can be introduced and work and learn and teach and whatever! I really got to get on a normal schedule... and am terrified I won't wake up :( Then I'm also terrified about getting up in front of an assembly of kids and introducing myself, of course.
Today I had some training, which was good -- about 3 hours of just a huge braindump from an ALT who told me a whole ton of stuff, most of which came down to "don't be nervous, ask lots of questions, and get involved as much as possible at your school." I did finally sign a contract, so this is for real. Yay. Won't get my first pay until near the end of May but I'll be fine, I think.
After training I ate too much sushi at the kaitenplace in Dogenzaka again near the dispatch office, and got Krispy Kreme again as dessert. Bought two donuts so I'd have a second one for breakfast tomorrow. Then I came home on a totally packed train, changed clothes, and eventually did an errand back down to the station area to drop off one of my suits at the cleaners (it's suggested I wear a suit for the first week or two, then scale back to match the other teachers), and to try to find another pair of indoor shoes, but the lady at Yokado was like "yeah, sorry, we simply don't carry anything except 4E-width shoes... very few Japanese people have D-width like you". So I think I'm going to have to go back to New Balance and get some stuff there, since I know they carry D-width shoes that are super-comfy. I forgot to get a new lightbulb for the fixture in my room though, oops.
I came home and dyed my roots to match the rest of my hair (whatever, might as well admit it) and stuff like that, and now it's late and I should have written emails to people much faster than I actually did. Oops. OMG nervous.
Also it's been exactly one year since that first time I stepped on the field at Chiba Marine Stadium. Wow, what a year it's been, and what a year this will be.
