Seattle touring
Today started when
jeliza came and picked me and Eli up at 10am to go do touristy stuff. We started in the international district. They have a huge Japanese grocery store and a Kinokuniya. Sadly I really didn't find much I wanted in either... if we lived in Seattle I could see shopping there often for groceries. But, CDs and stuff in Kinokuniya just cost too freakin' much. If I had a job I'd probly be a little more likely to buy stuff. We went to a random Japanese restaurant down there (Yoshinobo? I forget) and I had a shitload of food. A bento with tonkatsu and tempura and teriyaki and california rolls, and we got some sushi as well... we were all very very full after lunch as we drove partway across town...
...to the Pike Market thingy. Yeah, so Pike's market is cool. It's like the Reading Terminal Market but bigger and with more fish. I did get to see the fish-tossing guys, and I bought some random souvenir stuff, and we looked out at the water and sat in a park and all. At one point Eli and Jeliza hung out in a bookstore and I went to get a t-shirt, and then I also had marionberry-flavoured frozen yogurt. It was quite odd.
After Pike's Market, we decided to skip out on the Seattle Center and went up to the U district. There's a Half Price Books right by a gaming store. The gaming store was mostly figurine stuff... they had a lot of tables set up - it appears that it exists to fill a void that happened when a uwash WOTC store closed down. Half Price Books was quite cool though. I found a lot of movies I wanted, and some poetry books I'd been looking for for ages (like the Gerry Costanzo book with the poem about Nickel Beer Night, which Jill and I named the reading series after in 97-98...) After Half Price Books, we went back to the house that
jeliza and
seanmcguire and
rubylou live in. Sean took me and Eli down to Greenlake again so we could get one of their cats that was at the vet. Yeah, they have cats. I swear 75% of my Seattle pictures are of cats.
We went to dinner at Bengal Tiger (we being Eli, me, Sean, Rachael, and we met up with
idle_thoughts and Christine). The food was pretty interesting. They had some mango chicken that everyone liked a lot. After dinner we (minus Brian and Christine; plus Jeliza, who was done with class) went to Cap Hill again to Dilettante, where despite being stuffed already, we ate... more. Chocolate. I had a torte cake and some truffles. I couldn't finish them. Stufffffffffeed. We didn't manage to meet up with Eli's friend Mike, unfortunately, but
alegria_a called us while we were there, so I know we have plans for tomorrow, yay.
For the rest of the evening we hung out at Sean etc's place with the cats and the recording equipment. Sean got me speaking into a microphone for a while... it was sort of bizarre. Eventually we realized it was late late late and came back here. Now I should sleep - my clock thinks it's 4:30am even if Seattle thinks it's 1:30.
The only thing I feel sad about today is that I didn't see Megan at all... I hope she's not mad that we stayed out so late that she was asleep by the time we came back.
