I have a hairdresser now, I guess

Went back to UNIX tonight and got my hair cut. Yes, here's a picture.

I actually got almost the same exact cut as I did in October minus a little of the layering on top. I know this for a fact because I had the same guy as last time cut my hair, and he even got out the paper from last time I was there, told me what was done then, and asked if I wanted something similar this time. Seriously. It was like going to a doctor's office where they pull out your official records and everything.

I *think* I should be able to deal with it a bit better this time now that I have a hair dryer and a slight bit more knowledge about how Japanese hairdoes grow out.

The other funny thing is, so, since this is the first time I've had the same person do my hair twice in as long as I can remember -- meaning the last 15-20 years -- does that mean I actually have a hairdresser now? The weird thing is, this time was very silent and a little bit awkward, unlike last time when he actually tried to talk to me. Also this time he actually gave me a neck/shoulder massage, which I think is supposed to be standard for haircuts in Japan (I don't know why, they just are) but which he didn't do last time, nor did the other hairdresser I went to before. On the other hand, if I'm actually not hating this haircut in a week, I wouldn't mind going back again in a few months.

I'm not sure how often people usually get haircuts to be honest. I spent about ten years basically growing my hair really long, getting 12" cut off to donate to Locks of Love, and repeat the cycle every year or two.

Okay, besides the haircut, let's see.
Since my last entry, well, last night I actually got out my futon and slept on it on the floor in the main room here, because there was NO way I was going to sleep in the unheated outer room with the temperature outside being below freezing. Seriously. Oh, and I watched Densha Otoko, the movie, on DVD while goofing off on PP and hiding under my kotatsu. I've never really sat and WATCHED it without doing something else at the same time, because I've seen the TV series. The movie still bugs me because I love Yamada Takayuki, but he's just too good-looking to pull off the role.

Today I had interviews, two of them. The first was up in Omiya and was great, plus I got Coco Ichibanya for lunch afterwards and won a spoon! (Seriously, it's part of the Grandmother Curry campaign.) The second interview was in Shinjuku and was not so great. On the other hand, I got to Shinjuku way too early and thus got to wander around in the food floors of the Odakyu and Keio department stores, and I bought a ton of Japanese baked goods for [profile] dvarin. :)

I came home, changed out of my suit, and then went and got the haircut. Ate tempura for dinner after that, and then stopped by GEOS... I guess I was there for about an hour, from 8-9pm! Saw my students from all of my old classes and talked to them a bit, also saw the guy who is subbing in until the school closes. How sad :(

Now I am home. I should either be packing or napping or both.
My flight departs from Narita tomorrow at 5-something in the afternoon and I get to Seattle at 9-something in the morning on Thursday! Wow! This is nuts! What country do I live in?

I hope you don't get tired of the "cute haircut!" posts, but it's true =P I suppose it could be the angle of the pic, but the lil' swoosh of hair on your right in the pic helps set off your face really well.
