Maybe I will never get to Philly
I'm in Dulles airport. Still. My flight from SEA->IAD was uneventful -- I even slept through all of it -- but the connection to Philly was supposed to leave here at 8:34am... and there were maintenance issues... so they pushed it back a bit... and a bit more... and then basically got us all off the plane and all of our carry-on stuff and redirected us to another gate and now our takeoff time is 11:12am or something like that. So I bothered paying for wireless, which makes me angry.
I'm trying to figure out, if I had just left and taken a train at 8:30am, would I be in Philly at the same time I'm going to get there at this rate? The flight is only 26 minutes, the train is only 2 hours, but getting to Amtrak from Dulles is a pain. Eh.
I still have no clue what to say for my dad's funeral tomorrow (or with the meeting about it tonight). It sounds like Aiton can come to Philly for a bit to keep me company at least, so that should be good, even though back in high school he and my dad had... interesting... opinions of each other.
As for Wednesday...
In the afternoon,
kamendae drove over to Ballard so we could hang out for lunch, and there was nice weather so we walked down to Market street and I suggested going to Harry's Hamburgers or whatever the new burger joint down by 24th is called. It was really good! They have lots of neat burgers and a lot of sports photographs up on the wall, and of course it was fantastic to see Mike again since he's so awesome. We talked puzzles and sports and life and random stuff, and it was way too short a time, despite probably being way too long a time for him to spend away from work for lunch. Alas.
I did some searching for stuff in my old closet again... mostly to confirm that I had brought some stuff to Seattle in the past from Philly. I had, so that was good (and will save me from trying to find it in Philly). I also found some stuff that really made me sad (not father-related, just some old papers/etc).
Went to Northgate for a quick shopping trip after that -- first Target for some travel-sized thingies to bring on this trip, and then Penney's to see if I could get a new suit jacket. I guess Worthington's business attire is perennially on sale there, so I got a new suit jacket for $40 and matching pants and a new dress shirt too. Whew, interview clothes.
Came home, packed. Carl got home around 6:30 and told me I was a slacker. I was originally going to bring a mostly-empty big suitcase in checked bags so I could bring stuff back from Philly if necessary, and I realized: why do that? My dad had a whole bunch of luggage... and he certainly isn't going to use it... so instead, I have only a carry-on for this trip, and if I end up wanting to bring a ton of stuff back to Seattle, I'll just grab one of my dad's suitcases. Duh.
Carl and I went down to Southcenter and got dinner with Oren at a place called BJ's, which apparently was one of Oren's favorite places in CA. We got these deep-dish pizzas which weren't too bad. Then I went to the airport. Now I am still stuck at another airport here in DC. Since I started writing this, the flight time got moved back to 11:35am. Ugh. I hope this doesn't happen on Sunday again, argh.
In other news, I heard a rumor that my old GEOS school is merging with another GEOS and closing in a few months. That's pretty crazy. Guess I should just be glad it didn't happen while I was there.
Anyway, let's see if I can get to Philly, and how I deal with it.

The family looked at it and approached it as a celebration of her life and it was one of the most moving, and even joyful events we had despite the sadness of the day.
