my plan for the next few days
Wednesday night I am flying back to Philly on a redeye, I arrive Thursday morning.
Thursday I will spend going through crap at my dad's apartment.
Friday afternoon should be the funeral -- will get that confirmed tomorrow.
Saturday night will be a family gathering at my uncle's house.
Sunday, I return to Seattle, leaving at like 6am and getting in a bit before noon. I intend to watch football, hopefully with friends.
...Tuesday, I return to Japan. Yeah, seriously.
Flight info will be in a locked post for tradition's sake.
I still haven't cried. I'm pretty sure I won't until the funeral. My uncle says I need to think of some things to say during the eulogy. I'm not really sure what to say though.
I think the thing is, I KNEW that I was going to get a call sometime in 2009 saying that my dad's condition had gotten worse and he was near the end. I just wasn't expecting it so soon and wasn't expecting it to be that it WAS the end. Which is what's so startling about the situation, I suppose. But, I was ready, if that makes any sense.
Thanks for all of the thoughts and wishes, it means a lot to me that I have everyone's support in this time, cheesy as that sounds.
As for the rest of the day, I went to REI looking to replace my bag which is falling apart, and failed. Going to try to order a replacement online. In the evening, Eli and I went to dinner -- we'd planned that a few days ago, but interestingly enough he's probably the person in Seattle who has met my dad the most times, so it wasn't too weird for me to talk about my dad with him. We went to Hattie's Hat and I got silly food like chicken fried chicken and sweet potato fries, and we stayed there until they kicked us out of the back room because it was too empty.
I dunno. Bleh.
