It's December!
You know, I have been here in Philly for a whole week and it feels like I have mostly done a huge amount of nothing. Which is largely true. I have spent more time just sitting on a couch vegging out with a laptop than I have done in ages. In some ways I'm sure that this state of relaxation is good for me, and in some ways it's bugging me. When I was in Japan I simply never had "dead time" per se, even in the 3 weeks I wasn't working before I came back to the US.
I need to plan to see people and go on trips more, now that Thanksgiving is over. It's just that I'm bad at planning.
I mean, sometime I have to schedule a trip down to DC/VA for at least a week. Don't know what makes the most sense for that though. (Mostly because my dad has his next chemo in the middle of the month, so we'd need to go to DC either before that, or like two weeks later, which is like New Year's.) I wanna go to NYC too.
It's weird, it's like I theoretically have all the time in the world, and yet I don't.
I've got half a mind to just take a trip somewhere this weekend. Dunno where.
The thing is, yesterday, I pretty much did absolutely nothing. I mean, I worked on some stuff, but it feels like just nothing was accomplished with the day.
Oh yeah, Obama is coming to Philly tomorrow to speak with a bunch of governors. I'd really love to go see if I could actually catch a glimpse of him, and at the same time the idea of standing outside in the cold for hours on end doesn't sound like much fun to me.
I went to the Reading Terminal Market today for lunch. I definitely have to do that again a few more times while I'm here. I used to go to the RTM all the time when I was in high school because it was where we'd have BBS get-togethers (you know, in the days when having a 2400 baud modem was FAST). It seems to have improved their seating a lot, probably to cater more to conventioneers and lunchtime businessfolk. This time I went and got a salad because I wanted something light for lunch, but there were several places I thought I'd like to try while I'm here. Yay.

Yeah, I don't know if I'll be daytripping to NYC or actually trying to find somewhere to crash for a few days but I will definitely let you know.
