grumpy, sneezy, sleepy
I'm beginning to feel a bit better, less of a sore throat, but now getting random muscle pains. Very odd. I wonder if some of it has to do with this apartment being dusty. Though the dry throat feeling seems to start and stop randomly.
I stopped by K-mart this afternoon to get some medicine and other stuff I needed. It was a really surreal experience. Everything seemed so dirty and haphazard and kind of scary. I feel like I have been taking Japan for granted and always resenting how much everyone pays attention to appearance, but you know, it's nice to be places that don't have squalor. At both K-mart and at the Gallery food court, I noticed it was odd that the cashiers/clerks didn't actually LOOK at me, even, let alone thank me for my patronage. It was like, "hey, why do i have to deal with this girl trying to pay me for the crap this place sells?"
In the food court, there were two two-person tables, and these two women came in and took over both tables, so they could both have bench seats in order to talk loudly about this homeless-looking woman at another table, who was wearing no shoes and was babbling very randomly and loudly, until mall security took her away. It was all very, very strange to me.
Modell's has a lot of Phillies crap, but in men's sizes ALL they have is like... size XL, XXL, and so on. In women's all they had were mediums. WTF. I want a particular shirt, I'll have to go to CBP to get it I guess.
For dinner, I had half a mind to go get a cheesesteak, but get this, instead I walked down to South Street and went to WHOLE FOODS instead, got some orange juice and fruit salad and chicken salad and pasta salad and some pitas and things like that, and now I have meals for the next few days that are likely to be better for me than cheesesteak. My dad and I split the fruit salad since I hate watermelon and honeydew and those happen to be in the realm of fruit he can eat that doesn't hurt his stomach.
I'm really hoping that this thing where I basically ate some healthy food, drank some vitamin C, etc... I'm hoping that with a good sleep, I'll wake up and feel less sick. It would be nice. I actually should have gotten more things done today but was kind of mentally incapable of doing much at all.
I brought my dad a box of strawberry-chocolate daifuku, by the way, and he's still in disbelief that you can make mochi out of rice. Heh.

Glad they made it there okay.

The thing about stores in the US, of course, is the wide amount of variability. Which you don't get as much in Japan, seemingly.

I second the humidifier idea, and I gotta tell ya, philly has always been a disgusting place for mid-level retail. It does high end very well, and low end is eclectic and fun, but for just going to k-mart, I'd rather be in Texas. And I would never rather be in Texas.

It's odd, they've totally gentrified that little area around 9th and south, so it's all nice and sparkly new looking with lots of white people, but you get 2-3 blocks away and... you are in south philly again. wheeee.
