awww, byebye internets (and itinerararary)
Spent the evening up here in Saitama at my apartment enjoying a last glorious evening of internets, except I kind of wasted it by doing things like attempting to clean my bathtub and sink too.
Went to Ohtori's ramen shop for dinner for the last time, because I knew he'd have the Giants-Dragons game on (his ramen shop is FULL of sports crap on the walls, mostly Giants posters), but by the time I got there the Giants were already up 6-2. He's a grumpy old man and a Giants fan but he makes damn good miso ramen. Ramirez hit a 2-run homer while I was there, which was kinda funny.
I ordered plane tickets home tonight as well, while I have internet. It's looking something like this:
Nov 18 2008: Leave Tokyo around 6pm, arrive Seattle around 9am
Feb 3 2009: Leave Seattle around 1pm, arrive Tokyo at 4pm the next day
I'm gonna do one-ways from Seattle->Philly on Southwest I think since that seems like a cheap option and I don't know exactly when I want to go. Was thinking of going to Philly either Nov 19 or 20 to try to beat the Thanksgiving rush, spend the holiday season on the east coast (also gonna go to DC to visit my brother, VA to visit my mother, and willing to visit anywhere else near Philly that people offer me crash space at) and then going back to Seattle in early January, spend a few weeks there, maybe also take side trips to places like California and Vancouver (again, anywhere people offer me crash space).
So, that's set. Well, except the flight to Philly part. And that they haven't approved the itinerary yet so there's a chance there'll be another "omg you're using your US credit card from overseas" snafu, but I hope that doesn't happen.
11 weeks in the US sounds like a LOT and yet I bet when it happens it'll seem like too little. We'll see. I do have a lot of people I should see or need to see. I kinda picked 2/3 as a day to go back because I figure two things: 1) Mariners Fan Fest is likely to be near the end of January so it's an excuse to see my old baseball friends and 2) we can probly have a combination farewell/Superbowl party on Feb 1. Something like that.
