I'm just a-sittin' at a mac in the bay, watching the time waste away...

Sitting in the UCC Mac cluster waiting to go see tonight's Sunday movie, After Hours. It's been listed as a "Scorcese Comedy". I don't know exactly how much this frightens me, but I'll find out soon. I don't really go to Sunday movies much anymore since Sunday dinner usually pre-empts them, so it'll be an experience one way or another.

The reason Sunday dinner didn't pre-empt the movie this week is because I went to the All-University Orchestra concert at 8pm. [profile] buoren and [profile] dvarin were in it, and I've missed the last few AUO concerts, so I figured being at this one would be a good idea. (Oh also [personal profile] madmadammim and [personal profile] phoebus were in it too, but I couldn't really see them at all (I think Sally was hiding behind a column or something playing percussion. I was surprised she didn't play a bass flute in the flute choir. Bass flutes are SO COOL. I just love seeing and hearing them.)) It was a pretty good concert - the theme was "American modern composers" or something. So the first piece "Magic Mountain" was pretty cool, and the flute choir stuff was pretty cool, and even Habib's opera "Heliotrope" or whatever was pretty interesting (they had the orchestra and also these three voice majors singing). But the string septet, which played some pieces by John Adams... well... I guess I don't get minimalism. Kirstin, sitting next to me, was like "For a minimalist piece, you'd think it wuold have been shorter..." I dunno, it wasn't so bad, it was just long. Overall it was a good concert. Plus I got to walk to UCC with Bob Rost and talk about video games.

Hmm, so before the concert I hung out in Wean. I mostly just sat around reading some books (read a chapter on parallel algorithms in this one book. It was really cool to read... I think I want to get back up to speed on that stuff for various reasons) and I played some Lost Cities with Dan and I talked to some people and... I dunno. Boringish.

Before that there was D&D. We scouted a bit and found the hero's party coming up to this "dragonspire mountain" thingy. It was on a mountainside with 800 feet of stairs going up at a 75 degree angle. So I sat there and calculated exactly which points we could still dimension door down from... sort of amusing. We got into a big fight of course, mostly pushing rocks down on the hero and his constructs... eventually we DD'ed down ("we" being me and Carl and Konstantin; Dan's character didn't even go up) but Isaac and Kyle and Nasri were still all up there, after taking out four more of the constructs. Still. So it ended with us going "shit, half the party is going on an adventure and the rest of us are stuck down here..." I guess we'll figure it all out after Spring Break.

Before D&D there was waking up and painfully walking to campus. My legs are TOTALLY shot from a combination of CTFWS and swing dancing and all. Sigh... I hope they're better by Tuesday for DDR night.

Yeah, so you can say "uck, there's going to be John Adams, sucko", and I'll say "ooh, John Adams", and it all works out.
