Wow.
Despite that a typhoon is going to swallow Tokyo tonight, I spent the afternoon at Fighters Town Kamagaya for my last minor-league game there this year (I don't have class until 6pm today). The Fighters won 2-1 against the Swallows on a sayonara single by Suguru Ichikawa, which wouldn't have been necessary if Kanamori had held his 1-0 lead in the top of the 9th. Wilson Valdez, of all people, scored that tying run for Yakult, too.
I sat with a bunch of my Fighters fan friends, through all of the damn rain that lasted from the 3rd inning on, but the coolest part was BEFORE the game... I was hanging out with Ojisan and Mariko and some other Fighters stalker fangirls, by the clubhouse/training facility. I met outfielder Kazuya Murata's parents, who happened to be there for the game since he's from Chiba. And I was too shy, so Mariko pushed me to get my photo taken with like 6 players (one at a time, not together) as they walked by from the clubhouse to the stadium -- Toyoshima, Imanari, Ejiri, Komai, Imanami, and Ichikawa. OMFG. Ichikawa is really cute in person and a lot taller than I thought, he towered over me. Ejiri and Komai were very sweet. Imanami doesn't smile. Ryota ImanaRI is my favorite Fighters minor-league player AND I actually TALKED to him! See, the first photo Mariko took came out blurry so she called him back for another one, and so I apologized... I told him I came down from Saitama and he was like "Really? Me too! Where?" and I said Kawaguchi, he said "I went to HS in Urawa!" and I'm like "DUDE I KNOW! I CHEER FOR URAWA GAKUIN!" and he's like "WTF! Thanks!" and we took the picture and then I'm like "thank you so much -- good luck!!"
Hehe I was literally shaking afterwards, the other female camera stalkers were all laughing at me :) Dokidoki. The thing is, he didn't react like "WTF the gaijin is speaking to me in Japanese", he was like "whoa! cool!"
I'll post photos when I get home. Dude. I was seriously considering not going today due to the rain and all but now I am really glad I did!
