weekend in chiba
Went to Chiba for baseball yesterday and today. It took up my entire weekend. Yesterday rained out but before the game I interviewed Fernando Seguignol so that was cool. Today it didn't rain out and I took a lot of photos. Shunsuke Watanabe started and won and the team wore cool throwback uniforms. Got rides back to Tokyo with the Murata family both times, which I realized later is actually slower than taking the train, but a lot more comfortable and a lot better company.
Something really bizarre is that of all the things that happened this weekend -- and I was feeling really depressed/grumpy for a while today -- I found that there is no way I can possibly not be happy around Bobby Valentine.
I ended up spending about 4 innings chatting with a scout at tonight's game. That was kind of weird. He's actually kind of similar to me, only he actually has done things like worked in the Mariners scouting department. But right now his main job is English teaching in hicksville Japan, and so he put a lot of things into perspective for me.
Also, ugh, I'm totally all weird about what I can say in blogs anymore, I swear.
I forgot to eat all day and just went to Jonathan's diner for 1am dinner. Unfortunately they totally changed their menu so I couldn't get what I wanted. Had a bizarre "summer set" instead which had things like corn soup and cold spaghetti and demiglace burger and whatnot.
