Stuff

I've had a major craving for salty crunchy stuff all week.
Luckily, or unluckily, I finally discovered a brand of age sembei that I really like. It's called Amanoya or something like that. The downside is that I bought a big bag of sembei earlier this week and already ate them all. SO GOOD! I suppose that eating big crunchy rice cakes is probably better for me than eating chocolate wafers or potato chips, though.

Japan baseball is having quite a tough time in the Olympics, heh. I fell asleep during the Korea-Japan match tonight and they apparently lost. Infact that is why I am writing LJ -- I fell asleep off and on between 9pm and midnight and now I CAN'T GET BACK TO SLEEP ARGH.

I actually got home from work around 8pm and I went to the grocery store to get some inari and stuff for dinner. It was sprinkling a little rain as I walked there; as soon as I got back into my apartment there was OMFG THUNDER AND LIGHTNING AND DOWNPOUR. Infact, it was still storming when I first crashed, but it seems to be totally calm weather now. I just hope it's ok in Chiba tomorrow.

I started developing a major sore throat today during work. At first I thought it was just due to dry air but by the end of the day I was in serious throat pain. Hence the grocery, so I could also get and drink a big thing of orange juice. I also felt kind of dizzy/sick while riding my bicycle home, but... I don't seem to have a fever or anything, just a sore throat and I totally crashed earlier in the evening so I'm not sure what kind of sick or not sick I am. I was kinda hoping to sleep it off but my body disagrees, apparently.

Today was Kanae's last day and she is moving back to Iwate this weekend. We'll get a new teacher in two weeks.

Oh yeah, I had my photos up on the wall from last weekend at Seibu. I asked one of my baseball-fan students earlier this week if he could identify the guy standing in the photo between me and Lisa and he was like "Err... no... give me a hint?" and when I said "Seibu first baseman for ten years" he was like "Is it Mr. Takagi?" Well, today my other big baseball-fan student came in and he asked what games I saw last weekend so I was like "Oh, here is your big trivia moment of the week. Can you identify this guy?" and pointed to the picture. He *immediately* says "Oh. That is Taisei Takagi! You met him?" He even knew Takagi's history and that he is working for the Lions now. So obviously I really DO suck for not knowing who he was :)

Koshien is almost over! Tomorrow is Best 4 and then Monday is the finals. What sucks is that Yokohama and Toin have to face off in Best 4. I'm sure the actual final game will be anticlimactic compared to the semi. What ALSO sucks is that I will miss the T-Y game because I will be riding a train to Chiba at that point in theory. Sigh. Hmm... I bet they'll have it on the TVs in the press room at the stadium though :) Yesterday morning/afternoon I watched some of it from home though, after signing in at work. I went and got a Subway sub and was eating a very Japanese combination of Subway and age sembei, and drinking Diet Coke With Vitamin C. Teehee.

One of my students has their company team playing in the Industrial League city tournament so that is one more excuse for me to go. Yay!

BTW, to follow up that last post, I even saw some of those gaijin gang guys at the mall when I went to get Subway. Seriously. F might be right and maybe they are from Russia, but it's REALLY freaky to see one of them walking through the mall looking kinda tough-guy and talking on a headset. I really wish I could tell if I'm being overly paranoid or if there really IS something weird going on.
