Decent Way to Spend a Monday, maybe
Went to Shibuya in the afternoon, geeked out with some people. Was kind of fun. Might do it again. (Will explain more some other time.)
It rained, though, so I got out around 4pm, and decided that I didn't feel like shopping or anything I'd thought about originally (was gonna look for the New Balance store and see if they have 992's in gaijin sizes, among other things), so instead I went to Ikebukuro, since I haven't hung out there in a long time. Got Mexican food at the El Torito in Sunshine City. I had an enchilada-taco combo. Yum yum! Made the mistake of hanging out around the area for a while after that...
Stopped in Mint. Oh my GOD insane cards there lately. They have a lot of the current sets compiled but I cannot justify buying most of them. I had a Takuro Ishii 1993 BBM card in my hands but couldn't justify spending 500 yen for it. Hoping I find a cheap mistake for one later. Debating collecting Masa Yamamoto's career, old cards of him seem to be cheap and plentiful ;)
OH, so I ended up buying a box of BBM 2002 Preview cards -- marked down from Y2850 to Y597, and that's for 15 8-card packs. The boxes of BBM 2003 were marked down from 2000 yen to 630, for 20 4-card packs. In retrospect I shoulda maybe just gotten two boxes of 2002. Debating whether I will open them or not though... probly hold off a bit.
I chatted with the store guy for once, because I wanted to know about these super-awesome Fighters cards they had. Turns out they're only available at the Sapporo Dome. But I didn't see them when I was there!! Grrrrr. He also sounded interested in getting some of my old game-collected cards that I don't care about.
OH, and they have a whole ton of Tigers and Baystars figurines for sale. They're so cute :)
I was a dumbass and played a UFO catcher while wandering around the arcades. Got two Stitches for one coin though. Wheeee. I have a new favorite kind of catcher machine these days. I shouldn't be playing at all though.
Seibu department store sucks.
I came home, and stopped by the 100 yen store on the way. I meant to buy more storage space stuff for my apartment, then realized I didn't have the measurements of the little table my microwave is on, so I wasn't sure how big a carton/basket to buy for it. Oops. I did buy some new little drawers and am going to bring the old ones to GEOS, I think.
My laundry machine sucks too. It took an hour and a half to do one load AND it just kind of broke down halfway through and stopped with everything still wet, so I ended up running over to the laundromat with my stuff to dry it, and it took like an hour total to dry, which sucked. Also there were these two people there, a guy and a girl. They were just sitting there chatting with each other when I came in, and... there were NO machines running. I have no clue why they were there. And they kept staring at ME like I was the weird one. After the first 30 minutes of my stuff drying I went back to check on it, and those people were STILL there. And there were STILL no other machines in use. WTF, I am pretty sure the laundromat does not count as a classy place to go on a date. Anyway, they left eventually. Also, I tried out the new massage chair they have in the laundromat. It's 200 yen for 10 mins instead of 100, but it actually IS better than the old one (at least, I don't feel like it's going to cut off circulation to my feet)
Laura posted pictures from the L'arc concert on her Facebook. I just need to call attention to this one because it is so cute. I almost feel like turning it into mock purikura and making it my cellphone background :) Oh yeah, so oddly, while I was wandering around Ikebukuro today I was thinking how dang, if Laura had stuck around another day I would have dragged her to Sunshine and gotten Mexican food and then gone through Namjatown and scared children and eaten bizarre ice cream. And then played Settlers of Catan. Oh well, there's always next time.
Last week I emailed (in Japanese) the lady who gave me her meishi at the Fighters game on Monday... today she replied (in Japanese). Now I have to burn my braincells figuring out what to reply. Also arrrrgggh Shinji Takahashi ALSO has a broken hand now from being hit by a pitch. WTF. I am getting sick of this.
