Whee
So, I've started telling students this, I might as well put it in LJ, but Eri is quitting GEOS. Her last day is May 31. There'll be a substitute teacher taking over for her while they try to find someone new to replace her. It's pretty weird. I've barely seen her since she started teaching only nighttime classes anyway.
One of my students came in yesterday to tell me she has to take a break from GEOS for a month or two to take care of her mother. She also brought me a birthday present. I am kind of sad because she's a good person to talk to. Sigh.
I swear I should bring a videocamera to my kids' class sometime just to catch how silly it is sometime. Today the target was "Is this your (cellphone)?" "Yes, it's mine" "No, it's Takumi's." So after having everyone color in their own items, I FINALLY actually got the two girls asking that in a conversation game -- the boy was a lost cause today -- and so me and the girls are pointing at the cards with stuff we'd colored, like "is this your DVD?" "yes!!" and so on. anyway, every time I asked one of the girls, she'd answer straight -- yes, it was hers, no, it was someone else's, etc. But the other one, who is actually much better at English, I'd say "Is this your camera?" pointing to hers. "No!" "Uhh... is it [other girl]'s? "No!" "Is it [boy]'s?" "No!" "Well, it's not MINE... [Other girl], is this your camera?" "No! It's [first girl]'s!" (First girl cracks up.) I thought at first that she didn't understand what was going on, but then I realized after a few times of this that she was really just messing with me.
Uh, the arcade in Warabi moved all of their machines around, and so now Pop'n is upstairs. It's just on the outskirts of all the gambling games and the smokers, which is really annoying, plus I can't just poke my head in to see if it's in use, I have to walk up the stairs to do that. (It used to be RIGHT by the door on the first floor.) Bleh. On the other hand it hasn't been in use when I've gone there the last two days, so I have been playing quite a bit. Still not improving but I decided to start playing Expert courses for fun.
Today I went to Heiroku kaitensushi for lunch after a brief stop at the post office. The younger sushi chef was working there today, so I came in, sat down at the front part of the counter, and probably looked kind of indecisive for a minute or two (I usually just immediately grab something off the belt), but in reality I was looking for someone to ask for water -- it's too warm for hot tea now really. Anyway, the sushi chef got my attention and handed me a plate of hamachi that he had just made, which I do order almost every time I'm there if it's not on the belt. I hadn't even asked for it. So that was pretty neat. He then also put some maguro out on the belt and said "You like that too, right?" To be fair, I never order maguro, but I do like it, so... it's nice being a regular somewhere.
Finally managed to catch my trainer today and ask if I can take off June 4th, and he said yes, so yay. I don't have a real reason to take off, I'm just gonna go watch baseball. I'll go to Chiba for the Marines-Dragons game if it doesn't rain, and to Seibu for the Lions-Baystars game if it does. I guess the next time I'll try to take off will be July 18th or 25th to play volleyball. Whee.
I did a class on (English) handwriting analysis tonight. It was pretty fun. They decided that I am a creative mastermind because I am left-handed and my writing is loopy. Oh, and in an earlier class I got a good 25-minute discussion out of Jero again, mostly because it degenerated into a discussion on whether foreigners can use chopsticks.
Japan is weird.
Tomorrow I get to see
the2belo though when he rampages through Tokyo on a business trip, though, so that's exciting! We will be debating exactly when Masa Yamamoto will get to 200 career wins (196th tonight! It is so awesome to have Good Masa this year, seriously). Hey, he has been pitching every Wednesday, maybe I will get to see him on the 4th :)

And yeah, everyone thinks I'm amazing because I'm left-handed. They always bring up the point that southpaws' hands get dirty when they write left to right, and how kanji were obviously developed for right handed people which makes no sense because although they're individually written left to right, everything used to be written top to bottom, right to left, which would have been EASIER for left-handed people.
Rather than arguing this point, it's easier to just thank them for acknowledging our greatness.

*Well, it's sort of true.
