Ikkyu nyuukon soreyuke YOSHIMI!!!

Had one big badass day of baseball. Woot.

In the afternoon, I rode my bicycle to Musashi-Urawa and went to Lotte Urawa Stadium for an actual game (as opposed to sneaking into the stadium). It's a nice ride, somewhere around 3-4 miles -- I think it works out to like 7 miles round trip. Also, as it turns out, seeing minor league games there is FREE. You literally just walk into the stadium and pull up a patch of grass (well, if you are lucky you get to sit on a bench, but Sundays are pretty crowded). And on the way in, random players walk by you coming out of the clubhouse towards the stadium. And it's like "Uh, was that Saburo? WTF is he doing in the minors right now?"

After 4 innings of sitting on the side of a hill which was a bit muddy and feeling like my legs were really hurting from trying not to slide into the muddy part... I managed to get to sit on a bench for the rest. Not that it mattered. Yakult's farm team was really a farm team, but Lotte's farm team was actually half guys I think should be on the top team (Saburo, Takehara, Heiuchi, etc). Hence when Lotte beat the crap out of Yakult 11-1 I was not too surprised. Heiuchi even hit a grand slam. And Takumi Kohbe is a monster! He's got to be like 6'5" or so... I was hoping Miyade (Miyade!!) would get to first so I could see the two of them stand together... so tall!

I was worried about timing -- the game went until around 4:05pm. So I hauled ass back home, riding as fast as I could, got here around 4:40, then had to clean off my hands, change shirts, etc -- and headed back out to go to Jingu for the Chunichi-Yakult top team game.

And that was awwwwwweeeessoooommmmmmmeeeeeee. I wore my Morino jersey, had my Morino towel, cheered for Morino, and what did he do? He hit me a 2-run homer in the first inning and also scored the third run of the game for Chunichi. ♥! Also, as it is, the people I was sitting around were really nice, and they were all like "hey, there's your boy Morino again" when he did more cool stuff. The Dragons won the game 4-2 and the game hero was Yoshimi, who pitched 8 innings and kicked ass. I thought it'd be Morino, but oh well, I can deal. Yoshimi is having an amazing year so far and I hope he keeps it up. And I think this means that on Tuesday in Gifu we're getting NAKATA! Yay!

Something bizarre though is -- so there was this whole ruckus about a month ago with a whole bunch of Chunichi cheering groups getting banned from games, so apparently the BIG ouendan groups are no longer coming out to cheer and play instruments and all because they're angry. HOWEVER, we still had some group -- I dunno who they were but they were not official -- leading cheers and songs today. No instruments, and no drums, which makes it extremely hard to keep an entire outfield of people on the same beat for stuff like Uchimakure, much to my amusement. But at least there was cheering. I would be really sad if there was none. I tried to take videos of Wada and Norihiro's songs for the audio but they didn't come out so well, sadly. Also there was this hilarious part where the leader was like "Ok, this is the daisakusen!" and everyone yells "DAISAKUSEN!!!" ("Big plan!!") and then we're all totally silent until the ball gets pitched at which point everyone yells "OI!!". And then everyone cracks up. Repeat about 6 times in a row during Morino's last at-bat until everyone is laughing too hard to keep doing it.

After the game we all stayed there until the Jingu staff pretty much threw us out of the stadium. And if you can imagine them throwing out several thousand Chunichi fans singing "Misero Ochiai Nihon Ichi!!" at the top of their lungs, with the lights all being turned off around us and whatnot, it is about what you expect.

I decided to come home via Sendagaya station just to prove I could. I only got slightly lost getting there. Honest. And then I just rode trains and rode bikes and wheeee I am home, after my long day of baseball! Yay!

Oh my GOD this TV program has Suguru Egawa and Masayuki Kakefu debating about baseball players. Kakefu! This is HILARIOUS (especially things like Kakefu saying stuff like "Shut up, dude, I hit 14 home runs off you in my career, remember? I think I know something about hitting.") Egawa is backing Yoshinobu as his MVP this year and Kakefu is going with Arai. That's a tough one but I'd have to go with Arai as well, to be honest. Giants suck!
