I leave the country in 17 hours
I leave my apartment in like 12 hours.
I am totally not packed.
I can't decide if I should bring my zombie laptop back to the US or not. Pro: will have a computer to use for sure... and can get friends in Seattle to futz with it and see what the problem might be. Con: will be lugging around this heavy piece of crap laptop, and if I buy a new one while I'm there I dunno what I'll do with this one.
I still don't know exactly what was the outcome with HP. I guess I should call them again.
I haven't done my taxes... I guess I can work on them on the plane, or when I get to Seattle.
Today I didn't have any classes to teach until 7pm, so after dealing with some stupid crap with our children's textbooks which we never got school copies of (we don't have a manager, so *I* ended up having to fill out the order forms for everything; I just hope it all arrives by the time I get back), I went downtown. I really wanted to see the 1990's exhibit at the Baseball Hall of Fame and it's over on April 13, so I did. It's pretty awesome, lots of neato items, plus pictures of each champion team and information about each year. And they had a video showing the 1997, 1998, and 1999 Japan Series. '99 with Chunichi vs Daiei was awesome and I probably sat there way too long watching. Not to mention that the normal theater was showing the 2007 Japan Series and Asia Series, so I finally got to watch more of Yamai and Iwase's perfect game!
It sounds like I spent forever there but really I was at the museum for like an hour, maybe an hour and a half. I forget exactly. I stopped by Yamashita for a few minutes too and got some presents for people in Seattle.
OH, I got myself a ticket to the May 11th Dragons vs. Giants game. Yeah, only one ticket, because I have no clue whether anyone will want to go with me and yell "YOMIURI TAOSE O!" a lot. And despite that game going on sale on Saturday -- only 6 days ago -- the outfield visitor's section was already sold out, my ticket is NEXT to it. I expect to still be surrounded by Dragons fans but sheesh. I'm thinking I should go down to Lawson's and get my Golden Week tickets for the Lions-Fighters games RIGHT NOW just in case.
I walked down to Jimbocho after that and picked up some baseball cards for someone who'd emailed me for help with cards... he lives near Seattle and his request wasn't difficult (finding Rick Guttormson cards), so I just went and got them for him. Only thing is it's unclear whether we'll be able to meet up while I'm in Seattle. It seems I might end up going to Saturday night's Mariners game, not to see the game, but to find people, since a lot of the LL crowd is going too. How crazy is that?
And then I came back to Akabane. And I taught my 7pm and 9pm classes and they went ok I guess.
Duane stopped by at Akabane a little after 10 and we rode the train back up north together (well, he left at Kawaguchi). He's starting work in Chiba on Monday, if all the paperwork goes through. It sounds pretty complicated. I told him I'll visit him when I come down to baseball games in Chiba.
I played a game of Pop'n and now I am home and writing this entry instead of packing because I'm a huge loser. Oh yeah, and I watched the sports news and Kanemoto STILL failed to get his 2000th hit -- funny how he's been stuck at "ato ippon" for like a week now.
OK I SHOULD PACK. UGH. UGH UGH UGH I ALWAYS HATE THE NIGHT BEFORE I TAKE A TRIP :(

i used to live in broadview in seattle, then i moved to the u-dist to go to UW, then ended up in lynnwood before i came here. ;> i spent a fair bit of time in greenwood, not so much in ballard though.
i want to go to a baseball game! i've never gone regular season, i only went to a second-string all-star game a year or two ago. 8) it was fun, but i want the regular league experience too, i hear i'm really missing out.
anyway enjoy the US!

if you're serious about wanting to go to a baseball game -- let me know and I can totally take you for the full experience. uh, will you be around on April 30, or May 5/6? those are both days I am planning to go and sit in cheering sections and yell and sing for the whole game.
