morino, morino, wherefore art thou morino?
Kenshin had an epic meltdown and there was a Yoshinobu-Turtleface-OCD back-to-back-to-back home run set for the Giants to actually win their first game of the year tonight :( Today was Yoshinobu's 33rd birthday though, he said it was a decent way to celebrate.
Rakuten beat Lotte again for a club-record 7 straight wins and are now in first place in the Pacific League. Nomura-manager came out and his quote was just "Domo sumimasen. Mata kacchatta." "I'm very sorry. Unfortunately, we won again."
As for the rest of the day, it's really surreal being the only staff in the GEOS building for prolonged periods of time... as in all day today pretty much. I was doing all kinds of stuff like answering phones, faxing stuff to head office, signing for deliveries, rescheduling people's classes... oh, and I guess I'm permanently doing the answering machine, so you can hear my voice whenever you want, now! how exciting. I still think it's great how native English teachers aren't supposed to speak in Japanese, and then they leave someone like me to be the only person around with no manager and no Japanese teacher and no Japanese staff in the building. I suppose I could just pretend I don't understand what everyone needs/wants, but that seems inefficient.
Tomorrow is the Koshien senbatsu finals. I'll have to try to take a well-timed lunch break and catch some of it at Best Denki. Given that the two teams are a high school from Okinawa and a high school from Saitama there's no way they won't be showing it here.
I did finally book my flight to Pittsburgh, I will arrive in Pittsburgh on the morning of April 17th, taking the redeye from Seattle. I have a car booked to rent in Seattle but not in Pittsburgh, so I should probably do something about that too. And I need to order a laptop. Crap, I hope it's not too late.
